Can I receive unemployment benefits if I quit my job or was fired?

Asked 6 months ago
In most cases, individuals are not eligible to receive unemployment benefits if they voluntarily quit their job or were terminated due to misconduct. The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services requires unemployed individuals to be unemployed through no fault of their own to qualify for benefits. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule. If an individual quit their job due to a credible job-related reason or was terminated for reasons beyond their control, they may be eligible for benefits. Examples include a significant change in job duties or conditions, a relocation beyond a reasonable commuting distance, or discrimination. Ultimately, eligibility determination is based on individual circumstances and the Department's review of the specific situation. It is recommended to contact the Department directly to discuss one's specific circumstances and determine eligibility.
