What are the steps to transfer vehicle ownership?

Asked a year ago
To transfer vehicle ownership, follow these steps. First, obtain a transfer form. You can access one online or visit a Vicroads Customer Service Centre. Next, fill out the form with accurate details regarding the vehicle and both buyer and seller information. Then, pay the transfer fee and any outstanding fines/registration fees. To ensure a smooth transfer, ensure both parties sign the form. Subsequently, the seller needs to complete a notice of disposal online or at a Vicroads Centre. The buyer should obtain a roadworthy certificate, which a licensed tester issues. Finally, both parties should submit the completed transfer form, along with proof of identification, roadworthy certificate, and payment, to Vicroads within 14 days. Visit Vicroads' website or consult their customer service for more information.
