What is the difference between a passport book and a passport card?

Asked 6 months ago
A passport book and a passport card are both official travel documents issued by the U.S. Passport Agency, but they have key differences. A passport book is widely accepted for international travel by air, land, and sea, providing global access. It contains more visa pages and offers additional security features. On the other hand, a passport card is wallet-sized, more convenient for domestic travel or land/sea crossings between the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean. The card does not permit air travel, and it contains a limited number of visa pages. Choosing between the two depends on individual travel needs. If you will frequently travel internationally, a passport book is recommended, while a passport card suits those with more local travel requirements.
