How does solar energy work?

Asked 6 months ago
Solar energy works by converting sunlight into usable electricity through the use of solar panels. These panels are made up of photovoltaic (PV) cells, which are responsible for capturing and converting sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity. When the sunlight hits the solar panels, the PV cells absorb the energy and knock electrons loose from their atoms, generating an electric current. This DC electricity then passes through an inverter, which converts it into alternating current (AC) electricity that can be used to power homes and businesses. This AC electricity can either be used immediately or stored in batteries for later use, ensuring a consistent and reliable energy supply even when the sun is not shining. Overall, solar energy is a clean, renewable, and sustainable source of power that reduces our dependence on fossil fuels and helps combat climate change.
