What is the process for transferring ownership of a vehicle?

Asked 6 months ago
To transfer ownership of a vehicle in Connecticut, the seller and buyer must complete and sign the back of the vehicle title. The seller must also fill out a Bill of Sale and Notice of Sale form. The buyer must then apply for a new title and registration at a DMV office within two weeks of the sale. Both parties should keep a copy of all paperwork for their records. The buyer is responsible for paying all necessary fees, including sales tax. If there is a lien on the vehicle, the lienholder must complete a release of lien form. It is recommended to visit the DMV website for detailed instructions and forms.
