What are the basic rules for moving a Checker piece?
The basic rules for moving a Checker piece are as follows. Each player takes turns to move their pieces diagonally forward one square, occupying an empty adjacent space. Regular pieces can only move forward, towards the opponent's side of the board. However, once a regular piece reaches the last row on the opponent's side, it gets "crowned" and becomes a "King." Kings have the ability to move both forward and backward. Jumping over an opponent's piece is also allowed, but only if there's an empty space behind it. In this case, the jumped piece is removed from the board. When multiple jumps are available, the player can choose any sequence. The game ends when one player captures all of their opponent's pieces or immobilizes them by blocking their moves.
