The Bose SoundLink Mini is a diminutive but exceptional Bluetooth speaker that offers the top-of-the-line sound quality associated with previous Bose products such as the Soundlink Bluetooth Mobile Speaker II. Part of what makes it a unique product is its small size and an outstanding exterior design covered with aluminum. The aluminum plays a significant role in preventing the speaker from getting easily knocked off from a desk or table and protecting the interior components from suffering any damage in the event of an accidental fall.

Its efficiency for playing a diverse range of audio content is further cemented because it has several playback modes. You may opt to listen to your preferred audio content via Bluetooth connection to a phone or laptop, its one-eighth-inch auxiliary cable, or using a removable USB flash drive. On top of that, given its size, the speaker offers high-quality audio at high volume levels without any noticeable distortion or sound breakups.

Since it's designed to be an efficient portable speaker, the Bose Soundlink Mini comes with a charger and a charging cradle. To charge the device, you can connect your home's wall charger into the cradle and mount your speaker atop the cradle. Alternatively, you can connect your charging adapter to the input port on the right side of your speaker. A fully charged SoundLink Mini speaker is supposed to serve you for at least seven hours. Moreover, it takes approximately three to four hours to be fully charged.

Even though the majority of Bose SoundLink Mini speaker users have had little to no complaints about the product, some have encountered problems with the device's charging setup. Luckily, below are a few tips on what to do if your Bose SoundLink Mini does not charge.

What do I do if my Bose SoundLink Mini does not charge?

Charging the Bose SoundLink Mini shouldn't pose much of a problem. As aforementioned, you can use the charging dock or your phone's wall charging unit. However, you can't charge the speaker with your computer via USB. To know if your speaker has a charging problem, you can pay attention to the battery status LED lights located on top of the power button. Interpret the lights you may see as follows;

  • Green indicates that it's fully charged or has a significant level of energy.
  • Yellow depicts the battery is at a medium level, or it's still charging.
  • Red shows that it needs charging, or the level is substantially depleted.

A charging problem can be denoted by the speaker being connected, but no lights are present. In this case, below are some helpful options.

  • Check whether your wall adapter is working properly. Ensure that the prongs aren't broken, the casing isn't cracked, and that USB's crevices are clean.
  • Check if the power cord has any exposed wires, dents, tears, or bends. If so, consider replacing it.
  • Ascertain whether the charging port is dirty, damaged, scratched up, or broken. If you observe foreign objects, you can clean them out using a toothpick or using compressed air.
  • Ensure that the power source works just fine. Be keen on any scorch marks, scratches, and exposed wires.
  • Use the "Play/Pause" trick. Here, you'll begin by plugging in the SoundLink Mini speaker. You'll then hold the "Play" and "Pause" buttons simultaneously for 15 seconds. Before you've released them, ensure you've disconnected the charger. Release them, reconnect the charger, and turn on the device. This trick should successfully restore your device's functionality.

If this doesn't work, your speaker may need an update. You can update it following the process below;

  • Plug the charging cable, preferably the original one, into the computer.
  • Visit https://btu.bose.com/#section=start, where recent SoundLink updates will automatically appear.
  • Click on the updates and select "Apply Changes."

The download process will start automatically, and it may require some bit of patience on your side.

Alternatively;

You can opt to factory reset the entire speaker by pressing the "Mute" button for 10 seconds and then releasing it. If everything else fails, you may need further assistance from the customer support desk. Feel free to call them.
