What happens to my benefits if I leave my job?

Asked a year ago
If you leave your job, your benefits in BENEFEDS may be affected. The specific impact will depend on the nature of the benefits and the terms of your employment. In general, your health and dental insurance coverage may be terminated upon leaving your job. However, you may have the option to continue your coverage under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) for a limited period, typically up to 18 months. COBRA allows you to keep your coverage temporarily, but you will be responsible for paying the premium in full, including the portion that your employer previously covered. On the other hand, your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) may end upon leaving your job, and any remaining balance will usually be forfeited. To ensure you fully understand the implications of leaving your job on your benefits, it is advisable to review the BENEFEDS website or consult with a BENEFEDS representative.
