The following are issues that customers reported to GetHuman about The Weather Channel customer service, archive #5. It includes a selection of 20 issue(s) reported December 8, 2020 onward. If you have a similar customer service issue, this page will help you find current, up-to-date answers and solutions too.
Since last Thursday, the Weather Channel has been unavailable with the TV screen displaying "channel unavailable." My provider, a national provider, Spectrum, has notified the Weather Channel about the issue affecting customers in Park Rapids, Minnesota. Other national providers in the area are facing the same problem. We all have national providers, and the Weather Channel needs to address and resolve this issue. This is not the first time we've had this problem; the last time it took a week and a half to fix. It's disappointing that a multi-billion-dollar enterprise cannot resolve this promptly. We are valuable customers and deserve better treatment. Despite emailing and calling, no one has responded. The Weather Channel and local updates are crucial, especially during winter. I, along with many others, rely on these services, especially as a wheelchair user. When will the Weather Channel take action to fix the "channel unavailable" problem and restore our access to the Weather Channel and local updates? Thank you, Mrs. Linda K. Heath. We reject the notion that it's our provider's fault; this issue belongs to the Weather Channel.

I have noticed the information being shared frequently about the use of salt on icy roads. It seems to be emphasized repeatedly, but one critical point remains unaddressed. The true science behind it is that salt doesn't directly melt ice. Instead, it alters the water's composition to salt water, which has a lower freezing point than fresh water. This distinction is important to note because many people mistakenly believe that salt melts ice, which is not the case.

Hello, I'm Kathy T. from Dothan, Alabama. I've noticed a change in the local weather on your show today. Instead of featuring Dothan, you've been showing Panama City and Chipley, Florida. Typically, you always include Dothan in your weather updates. I appreciate the accuracy of your radar which is why I rely on your updates daily for the weather forecast. Could you please resume including Dothan, Alabama in your broadcasts?

I find the recent upgrade to the radar screen quite disappointing. The time bubble covers my house location, and the menu keeps popping up and getting in the way. I am frustrated with these changes as they seem to be more focused on design rather than user experience. I have relied on WC for years to track storms effectively, but now it feels useless. I hope they consider reverting to the previous setup for better functionality.

The location information on Google for our zip code, [redacted], is currently listed as "SUGARCRK Township" instead of the correct "Sugarcreek Township." This spelling mistake causes inconvenience when checking the weather as it needs to be spelled out every time. I would be grateful if this error could be rectified. It has been persistent for years, and I am finally taking the time to address it now.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Warm regards,
Joe See

I worked at IBM for 30 years in the suggestion department. I have noticed some issues with the recent changes on the Weather Channel app that seem completely incorrect. I have a strong track record of correcting such problems and would like to offer my expertise to help IBM and its partners. It is Christmas today, so I kindly request that one of your top customer service representatives contact me on a recorded line to discuss how to improve your services. You can reach me at [redacted]. I am willing to meet in person to demonstrate the necessary adjustments. Thank you.

Hello everyone,
I am reaching out about The Weather Channel listing Shelton, CT in Hartford County instead of Fairfield County. This has caused me to miss out on important COVID-19 information for Fairfield County, CT.
On a different note, I experienced a surprising incident while cooking about two weeks ago. The glass lid on my pot unexpectedly shattered when I was rinsing it. This caused some minor injuries on my hand, fortunately avoiding my face and eyes. I want to warn others about the possibility of glass lids breaking unexpectedly to prevent similar accidents. Unfortunately, I do not know the manufacturer of the lid.
Thank you for your attention to these matters.

I have been a dedicated viewer of The Weather Channel for several decades, particularly enjoying their radar map feature. However, I have noticed a recent issue with the activation controls being displayed too low on the screen when I open the radar map page. The very top of the box indicating "past" or "future" options appears at the bottom of the screen, while the controls themselves are located even further below, making them inaccessible. Even when I attempt to resize the map, the controls remain out of reach, making the radar map functionality unusable for me. I would appreciate any insights on what is causing this issue and whether it can be resolved. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I've noticed that there are now two circles on the radar map indicating the temperature for my hometown of Marathon, Florida, which is circled in blue. Unfortunately, these circles obstruct the radar rain data, making it challenging to see if there's a storm in my area, especially when I'm traveling along Route 1 to the Keys. Could you relocate the temperature circles to a less obtrusive area on the map? Previously, there was only one circle in an inconvenient spot, but now there are two, making it difficult to view the radar map. I already have access to temperature information on other pages of the app, so having it displayed on my city is redundant. Kindly consider moving the temperature circles to a different location on the map.

Congratulations WeatherChannel. You have made it onto my very selective list. I would appreciate it if you could focus on providing weather forecasts without adding your political opinions. I do not wish to engage with your advertisers in the future. I will be supporting a boycott of your services and the advertisers associated with your channel. Goodbye, and I hope your predictions are as inaccurate as Al Gore's.

Hello, I'm Christa Pellicci from Stamford, CT, and I'm a fan of the young British actor, Henry Cavill. Recently, while watching the local weather channel, a meteorologist mentioned something untrue about Henry Cavill liking someone who is not his fan. I found this unfair and believe it stems from jealousy. The meteorologist has no right to spread lies about not supporting him or receiving photos from him. Despite my disappointment, I decided to take a break from dating as it's affecting my mental and physical well-being. I stand by what I shared with my mother, and I believe it's best to focus on myself rather than deal with disrespectful men. Thank you, Christa Pellicci, Stamford, CT.

I have been a loyal viewer of TWC for over 30 years. Last night (Friday, February 19, [redacted], around 8:05 pm), I was checking the weather in our area and across the country due to the cold weather. During a live segment in NYC with a reporter, possibly Mike Slidel, there was graffiti with the letters "ACAB" on a concrete barrier behind him. Whether this was intentional or not is unclear, but I believe the producers should be more attentive to what is shown in the background. If it was deliberate, this could attract negative attention. I watched TWC mainly for weather updates, not politics, so I will be looking for information elsewhere moving forward. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I have been a viewer of the Weather Channel since its inception in the early 80s. The dedication of the staff who put themselves at risk has always impressed me, and I have come to rely on the channel's accuracy. However, my recent experience on March 20, [redacted], left me disappointed. During a segment about President Biden's fall on the stairs of Air Force One, I felt that the sarcastic remarks made by Paul Goodloe were unnecessary and had a political undertone. When I watch the Weather Channel, I expect weather-related news, not political commentary. Let's strive for kindness and avoid spreading hate. Thank you, Marcy K., Maple Grove, MN.

Discovering topographical maps was like finding the 8th wonder of the world for me! It is crucial to highlight the significance of using these maps when discussing flooding. My brother wisely chose a high spot based on a topographical map near the Pearl River in Mississippi, which saved him from two major floods. Using this method is simple, with maps readily available online, making it a valuable tool for selecting safe home locations. Growing up in the beautiful terrain near Birmingham, I vividly remember the power of nature during storms. I never considered living in low-lying areas near water after witnessing our branch flood. It would be helpful for weather broadcasters to emphasize this when relevant.

I am frustrated by a recent TV show where the host disrespected viewers. The individual's behavior was unacceptable and offensive. I demand a sincere apology for the derogatory comments made towards hardworking people. The network needs to address this issue promptly and take action against this behavior. It is important to hold individuals accountable for their words and actions, especially when they disrespect others. I hope the network will rectify this situation and prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.

I checked the weather forecast, which indicated no rain, and eagerly drove my 35-year-old Corvette C4 to pick up my girlfriend. Upon arrival, despite some initial light rain, the downpour began, contradicting the weather information from the iPhone app. This has been consistent the past two days with inaccurate rain predictions. Frustrated by the unreliable forecasts, I am considering ignoring the app entirely.

Hello, I reside in Charleston, SC. I have noticed that the high temperatures forecasted on your platform seem to be inaccurate. The temperatures you predict are lower than the actual highs recorded in my area on a daily basis. For instance, you mention that it never reaches 90 degrees here, but my digital thermometer consistently shows temperatures between 90-95 degrees before afternoon thunderstorms occur from late May to mid-September. The summer temperatures in Charleston are typically in the 90s for about 50-75 days with high humidity.
I am curious about the weather station your forecasts are based on because it does not seem to reflect the real conditions where I and 70,[redacted] other residents live in West Of The Ashley. I believe the official readings and forecasts should align with the actual climate here. Charleston's summer weather is much hotter than what is being portrayed. I hope you can address this discrepancy to provide more accurate forecasts for our location.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. Best regards, F.C., Charleston, SC, Zip Code: [redacted].

Since starting on 7/6/21, I have been paying $1 per month for enhanced details on my computer's weather channel site. I noticed a pending charge for the second dollar on 8/5th, but today on Sunday, 8/8th, I am no longer receiving the quarter-hour forecasts as I was before. Initially, when I signed up, I noticed a red indicator at the top of The Weather Channel's webpage, which now seems to be missing. The hourly forecast is no longer showing the quarter-hour breakdown. I need this issue fixed promptly to receive the service I am paying for, or else, I would like a refund for the 8/5 charge and cancellation of my subscription if resolving this will be difficult. Thank you.

I checked the weather app before heading out, and it indicated sunny skies. However, upon stepping outside, I noticed clouds all around me in every direction. It seems like the weather is changing rapidly, making the app less reliable. Just two weeks ago, the forecast predicted no rain or clouds, but suddenly a downpour occurred on a seemingly clear day. The following day, the clouds disappeared. Could this be a sign of more severe global warming than we've been told?

I am having trouble with my tablet screen being too sensitive. Whenever I touch a part of the screen, it goes blank, and I am not sure if my text messages are sent or just trashed. I decided to start over and go back to using my A01 Samsung. Recently, I received a message that had my real name displayed prominently in big bold letters. The content mentioned my Gmail address, which made me uncomfortable as I couldn't see why the Weather Channel would need this information. The article criticized my use of ad blockers, claiming that by blocking ads, I was negatively impacting businesses and the economy. I don't believe it is anyone's business to monitor my phone and tablet activities or dictate how I use ad blockers. This situation is concerning, and I want to know why they are policing my actions. It's important to me to have privacy and control over my own devices without interference.
