I went to H&R Block, and they stated I had to file as married jointly. Despite not being legally married, we have a child. In Tennessee, common-law marriage is not recognized, but now that I've moved to Texas, we are considered common-law married. Unfortunately, my partner owes back child support, and they deducted it from my tax refund without me normally including her on my taxes. I need to resolve this to get my refund back. My partner hasn't worked while with me, so I need copies of my [redacted] W-2 forms to amend my taxes. Recently, the Attorney General's office sent a letter stating she owes $1,[redacted], but they took $3,[redacted] without explaining it to me. I have not received any communication about the offset.

I am using TurboTax Home and Business and received a [redacted]-C this year for a charged-off debt that was originally a second mortgage on my main home during my bankruptcy years ago. I made payments as per the bankruptcy agreement and then settled the debt at a reduced rate. I am unsure where to enter this information on TurboTax. One of the questions asks if I had a home business in [redacted], which I did but did not generate any income this year. To input the numbers from the [redacted]-C, I have to state it was a cancellation of debt on my main home under "other transfer," specifying it was a second mortgage for home improvements only. I then need to deny that my main home was used as a rental, had a home business, loan canceled in bankruptcy, or was refinanced. However, since my business did not make a profit, I am uncertain where to input these numbers. Should I select "none of the above," input the numbers, and allow the system to recognize that the business had no income to document the debt charge-off accurately?

I'm Bianka E. I attempted to e-file my taxes through H&R Block, but received a rejection stating that the dependents I claimed were already claimed by someone else. These dependents are my four grandchildren, whom I've had legal guardianship and permanent custody of since mid-April [redacted]. I have all necessary court documents to support this. The parents filed their taxes early and wrongly claimed the children who have been living with me and under my financial care since mid-April [redacted]. Due to the parents being deemed unfit and losing custody, I am seeking guidance on how to correct this issue with my tax return and ensure its acceptance.

Good Afternoon!
I have been attempting to contact the IRS at [redacted] without success. Despite visiting the local office in Albany, I am still seeking assistance regarding a tax debt from [redacted]. I was informed that I owe $10,[redacted] and would like to explore the possibility of reducing this amount. Additionally, I am requesting a 60-month payment plan, allowing me to pay around $[redacted] monthly. Due to personal hardships in recent years, which included health issues and a divorce, I am facing financial challenges. I acknowledge my mistakes in omitting certain tax forms and deductions. I would appreciate it if the IRS could reach out to me via email at [redacted] or by phone at [redacted] to discuss a resolution and set up a payment plan.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
John A. Freeman

I am Matt Rawlings, an associate editor at the Keizertimes in Keizer, Oregon. I have concerns about McNary Youth Football, a local non-profit. Allegations have been made against Kyle Edward Hughes, the President, stating that no tax paperwork has been filed since the league's establishment in [redacted]. Despite my search on Guidestar, I could not locate any tax documents for the organization. Comparatively, other youth leagues in Keizer, like Keizer Little League, have their [redacted]-forms and tax information accessible. I am curious if the IRS may possess relevant paperwork or if there is a specific department to verify Mr. Hughes' compliance with the law.

My name is Najja Hines, and my Social Security Number is [redacted]. I e-filed my taxes on 2/24/[redacted] through a tax company. I'm inquiring about the status of my refund. I filed as Head of Household, claiming my 2-month-old daughter as a dependent, and expecting a refund of $3,[redacted].00. The tax preparer mentioned I should have heard back by now. I have all the necessary documents from my filing. Additionally, my [redacted] federal refund was delayed, only received it on 3-7-[redacted] but had already received the state refund in [redacted]. I kindly request a prompt response from an IRS representative. Thank you for your assistance. Email: [redacted]

I am currently dealing with back taxes and had enlisted the assistance of a tax professional named Mariah Pace. She claimed to have submitted a form to the IRS to potentially reduce the amount owed, but I later discovered she had not actually filed anything. Despite continual reassurances from her, I learned she had not taken any action. Recently, when I tried to communicate with her, I received no response. Surprisingly, I found out she had relocated to Minnesota. Feeling abandoned after paying her $[redacted] for her services, I decided to reach out to the IRS to establish a payment plan. However, I have yet to receive any confirmation on whether the plan has been approved or not.

I am seeking advice regarding a capital gain issue. My CPA has confirmed that I am eligible to utilize the cost basis for a property transferred to me by my husband. The property transfer in [redacted], meant for estate planning, was erroneously reported by the title company to the county as a sale, using the loan amount as the sale price. The property has since been transferred back and forth between us through interspousal transfers. Despite this confusion, the loan amount reported as the sale price was actually the original loan amount, which remained unchanged until I refinanced the property two years ago and paid it down. I have evidence to back this up and have publically corrected the misreported transfer in a real estate listing. Now, with the property for sale, my husband is concerned about using his cost basis, especially considering the additional capital improvements I have made. However, my CPA reassures me that the [redacted] misreporting can be rectified, allowing me to use my husband's original cost basis. Thank you for any assistance you can provide on this matter.

I recently received a call from a number in Humble, Texas [redacted]. The caller, a young man with a thick Indian accent, claimed I have outstanding criminal charges for misrepresentation, fraudulent information, and incorrect tax filings from 2[redacted] amounting to $[redacted]. He mentioned an arrest warrant under my name for non-compliance if I do not pay. Despite not receiving any IRS letters about these matters, he pressured me to settle immediately, providing me with a case number DC056T85A52. Having dealt with unpaid taxes before without such calls from the IRS, I am concerned about the authenticity of this call. The urgency to pay today or face court raised suspicions. I opted to inquire if this is a legitimate call or potentially another scam targeting individuals for money.

I am inquiring about the delay in receiving my refund. I opted for direct deposit and today, on March 16, [redacted], it has been 21 days since I filed. Although I understand not to rely solely on my tax refund for assistance, I am in need of it. TurboTax indicates my refund should have arrived today. I kindly request an explanation for the delay and if the IRS could investigate or expedite the process. Thank you for your attention to this matter, I eagerly await your response.

I have not filed tax returns for a couple of years, as I believed there were no taxes owed. Our main income is Social Security, with a small IRA being our only other income source. Due to an ongoing worker's comp case, we have been patiently waiting for additional income. We do not have taxable interest, dividends, or rental income, but I recently realized I need to report IRA withdrawals in past years to the IRS. Given our inaccessible records, I need help determining what information was submitted to the IRS.
I am currently on an installment payment plan and considering applying for an Offer In Compromise since I have been making payments for years. Am I correct in understanding that in order to request an OIC, all missing tax returns, even if no taxes were owed, must be filed to show no taxable income? Thank you for your assistance.
Best,
J.M. from Eureka, CA

I have a question regarding accounting for sales tax on Schedule C and Form [redacted]. After reading Pub [redacted], I understood that I can deduct the sales tax paid on business expenses listed on Sch C and Form [redacted]. Several of my Schedule C supplies and two items purchased in [redacted] for depreciation on Form [redacted] were bought online without incurring sales tax. However, I am paying sales/use tax on them now through my PA state tax form. Since these were business expenses on Sch C, can I include the PA sales/use tax related to each item in Part II of Schedule C? Also, for the items I will depreciate on Form [redacted], should I add the relevant PA sales/use tax to their basis, or deduct the entire sales tax in the year of purchase?

I have a question regarding Schedule C and Form [redacted]. In Publication [redacted], it mentions deducting sales tax paid on supplies for business use as part of the item's cost. I bought supplies and two depreciable items online in [redacted], without paying sales tax at the time of purchase but now owe use tax in Pennsylvania. Can I still include this use tax on Schedule C Part II for my expenses, as it's a form of sales tax paid? The publication also suggests adding this tax to the basis if the item is depreciable when filling out Form [redacted]. I am using straight-line depreciation for a 5-year and a 7-year item. I want to ensure I am following the correct procedures.

I have a question about Schedule C and Form [redacted]. I was reading Publication [redacted], specifically regarding sales tax deductions for business expenses. It mentions that sales tax paid on supplies that are part of the cost of the item can be deducted. Some supplies I bought in [redacted] and two items I will depreciate using Form [redacted] were purchased online, so no sales tax was paid at the time of purchase. However, I understand that I owe use tax on these items when filing my PA state tax. Since I am paying sales tax on these items, even though it's through PA use tax rather than at the point of sale, can I still include this tax in the expenses listed on Schedule C Part II? Publication [redacted] also indicates that for depreciable items, the tax can be added to the basis. So, should I include the relevant PA use tax with the item on Form [redacted] as well? Just seeking confirmation on the correct way to handle this.

I am new to TurboTax and encountered issues with phone support. Recently, I was guided through amending my [redacted] return on a [redacted] form. Researching online, I discovered I should have used a 1040X form for amendments.
Now, I wonder if I must transfer my [redacted] details onto a 1040X before submission. I am hesitant to seek help from TurboTax after previous difficulties.
Thank you.

I recently received a refund but my card account rejected three funds because the names didn't match. I've requested to freeze my account until I get the new card. A new card was sent to me due to my previous card being damaged or stolen, providing me with an updated account number. I'm still waiting for the refund to be processed. Unfortunately, my mailing address is not secure, and I've had issues with mail theft before. The bank has not updated the new account number yet. This delay is causing me financial hardship as I am at risk of homelessness and have been struggling without income for months.

For over 8 years, I've been working on clearing my IRS debt. After the IRS classified me as "uncollectable," issues arose due to a misfiled 401K withdrawal and a missing W2 form from a temp agency. Every refund I've received from State & Federal taxes has gone towards the debt, leading to wage garnishment at one point. Despite hiring a bookkeeper, the application of my payments remains unclear. Now facing homelessness and retired since November [redacted] at 62, I struggle to provide the necessary documentation. I seek a clear understanding of the current amount owed and how my payments have been handled.

My name is Dwane Marsh with the last four digits of [redacted]. I am a U.S. citizen residing in the Philippines. My legal state of residence is Texas at [redacted] Edwards Ave, Charlotte, TX [redacted]. I filed my [redacted] taxes with a tax agent here and applied for an ITIN for my wife, who is a Filipino military dependent recognized in the DEERS system with a U.S. military dependent I.D. Additionally, I submitted an amendment to my [redacted] taxes. I am owed a refund of $[redacted] for my [redacted] taxes and $[redacted] from the amendment. The documents were mailed on February 8, [redacted]. Despite my attempts to track it, I am uncertain of its receipt by the IRS or its current processing status. I seek clarification on whether it is still being processed or if the refund has been issued. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly valued.

My mother's pension plan was transferred to a new company this year. On the [redacted]-R, they listed the state/payer's state number as [redacted]50 in item 13. In item 14, they repeated the state distribution as item 1 and item 2a. I'm worried that using TurboTax might calculate a state tax even though Texas doesn't have a state income tax. Should I input this number in item 14, assuming the IRS will recognize Texas does not have a state income tax, or should I leave it blank?
The second issue is TurboTax is inquiring if my mother repaid any hurricane assistance funds from [redacted] or wants to repay them now. She did not receive any such funds. We live in Northeast Texas and haven't been affected by hurricanes. She has never received any type of storm damage assistance. How do I address this matter? Thank you.

I have recently undergone a tax audit for the years [redacted] and [redacted]. I promptly paid the full amount owed for both years except for the penalties. Although the [redacted] penalty has been removed after a wait, the [redacted] penalty is still present, causing concerns about my account being at risk.
I wonder when the [redacted] penalty will be lifted as requested when I made the payment. To rectify the situation, I paid the [redacted] penalty as a precaution. I am hopeful that, similar to the [redacted] situation, if my penalty waiver request is approved, I will receive a refund for the amount paid. I am uncertain about the timeline for this process and would appreciate clarity on when I can expect the resolution.
