I recently moved to North Carolina and my fifteen-year-old daughter wants to get her learner's permit soon. She hasn't done any driver's ed in our old state. Do you know if she needs to finish the thirty hours of driver's education before applying for the permit? I heard she might be able to get a temporary learner's permit and then do drivers ed within a certain time frame. Is that accurate? I'm in Chapel Hill, and I couldn't get through to the local DMV on the phone. The website suggests contacting the local DMV for details on when she can start. Is there a quicker way for her to start driving? Thanks, Rachel

I have yet to receive my driver's license in the mail, even though it's been almost twenty days since I got my temporary license at the Carrboro DMV. When I tried to contact the Carrboro DMV about this issue, the phone number provided by the automated system ([redacted]) was disconnected. I then tried reaching out to the Raleigh office, but I couldn't speak to a live person or get a new working number. I am hoping that someone can return my calls or provide me with updated contact information for the DMV. I am concerned about why my license hasn't arrived yet and would like guidance on my next steps. It's puzzling to me because my husband and I visited the Carrboro DMV on the same day, and he already received his license within the ten-day timeframe they promised, while I haven't.

Hello! I recently received a letter regarding the "NOTIFICATION OF TERMINATION OF LIABILITY INSURANCE." I purchased my car in March and have been insured by Progressive until September. The letter mentions a previous insurance with Amica Mutual Insurance that allegedly expired in [redacted], which I have never had. It states I need to pay a penalty, but I have always been covered by car insurance. I would appreciate it if you could investigate this issue promptly since the deadline is approaching on June 17, [redacted].

I recently discovered my Virginia driver's license is suspended in North Carolina due to a ticket from August [redacted]. I paid the ticket late, but it's settled now. I am unsure of the additional steps needed to reinstate my North Carolina driving privileges to regain my Virginia license. I am struggling to find the right contacts since I hold a Virginia license, not North Carolina. My main goal is to pay any outstanding fees and restore my Virginia license without any issues.

I am experiencing extreme difficulty reaching a representative via your telephone services. The automated system is prolonged and unhelpful, making it challenging to connect with a live agent. The online information regarding speaking with a representative differs from the actual process. I urgently require assistance with an error on my recent auto registration card reflecting the incorrect county. The available automated options do not address my specific concern. I kindly request a direct contact number to quickly speak with a human regarding this issue. Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated.

In [redacted], I renewed my driver's license online in NC and received a card valid until [redacted]. On March 4, I discovered my license hadn't been renewed due to a suspension in NJ, unbeknownst to me, as I relocated to NC in [redacted], and the suspension was in [redacted]. NJ police rectified the error, but NC DMV insists I retake the written test, which I failed, leaving me license-less for another week at 67, alone in NC with no family nearby. I informed NC DMV of their oversight in issuing me a card while my name was on the registry and not notifying me. They claim to have sent a denial letter in [redacted], which I dispute never receiving. I question why they sent the card if a denial was imminent. I simply wish for my license to be renewed promptly to regain my driving privileges.

Hello,
My name is Sadie A., my date of birth is February 20, [redacted].
Yesterday, on July 1, [redacted], I visited the Morehead City DMV to transfer my REAL ID driver's license from Georgia to North Carolina. The lady at the check-in desk told me my documents were acceptable for the NC Real ID. However, when I presented my paperwork to the man handling the licensing process, he said it wasn't enough. I had my GA Real ID, SSN, birth certificate, NC driver's education completion certificate from [redacted], my parents' utility bill, mail addressed to me, proof of insurance, and a notarized letter confirming my address in NC.
When I moved to NC in [redacted], the DMV instructed me to take another driving class, as I previously held a SC unrestricted license. Upon completion, the same employee tried to put me on a restricted license. Now, at 21, I returned to get my NC Real ID and encountered the same unhelpful man who disregarded my documents, making me pay $48.00 to remove the star from my license. I felt let down by his behavior and lack of assistance. I am willing to email photos of my documents for a review by someone else to confirm my eligibility for the NC Real ID.

I am currently residing in Wisconsin, and I renewed my registration, had my car serviced, and submitted all the necessary information. However, I have not received my updated registration. The post office explained they couldn't forward DMV mail, suggesting it may have been returned. I have repeatedly tried to contact the DMV without success. They provided me with tracking numbers: IG8Y9L178, 8D6QJLQBJO, and SSOW8NUARU. So far, I have not received any communication via phone or email regarding this issue. I need my registration sent to [redacted] North Oakland Ave., Shorewood, WI [redacted]. You can reach me at [redacted] or email me at [redacted]

My fiancé was informed of a hold on his North Carolina (NC) driver's license, but he has never possessed an NC driver's license. After contacting North Carolina, they confirmed his lack of NC license and mentioned that West Virginia requested the hold even though he never had an NC license. Although he resolved the issue with West Virginia, North Carolina has yet to remove the hold. It's perplexing why a reinstatement fee is required for a license he never held. This hold is preventing him from renewing his Ohio driver's license. Assistance in resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
S. Beecham

After living outside the US for fourteen years, my North Carolina driver's license expired. Upon appointment at the Roxboro Drivers License office, I was unexpectedly informed that I would need to obtain a learner's permit, keep a driving log, and have an adult sign off each time I drive due to my age of 78. I inquired about an alternative and was advised to request a driving record for $15 and apply for a waiver. Despite sending the fee and requesting the waiver in writing, upon receiving my driving record, there was no mention of the waiver. It seems my letter may not have been read, as I only received paperwork without any response regarding the waiver. I am struggling to reach a live person for clarification as the automated voice systems require a valid NCDL number, which I currently lack due to my expired licenses. This process has been ongoing since October, and I am eager to find a solution.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have encountered issues trying to obtain my Registration Card from NC DOT. Despite multiple attempts, I have not received instructions or the card itself. It has been impossible to speak to a live assistant using the provided phone number 1-[redacted]. I am hopeful that you can assist me in obtaining my Registration Card or provide a contact number where I can speak with a live representative to resolve this matter.
Thank you for your attention to this issue.

We purchased a vehicle from Delivery Concepts in Bloomingdale, IL, and our salesperson is Clayton Pfeiffer. The chassis was obtained from Randy Marion Buick, GM. The truck arrived in mid-July, but as of September 20, we are still awaiting the title paperwork. Without it, we cannot register the truck in Texas as required. Delivery Concepts has been informed weekly about the delay in paperwork from Randy Marion, citing dealership delays. Waiting for ninety days is unacceptable, prompting us to seek assistance from the state. Texas imposes fines of $50 per month for unregistered vehicles, adding to the urgency. The delay not only hinders our ability to deliver Meals on Wheels but also impacts us financially.
