The Veterans Evaluation Service is sending me to Oak Park, Illinois, for an evaluation at 72 years old. I looked up the address and noticed there are parking meters on Lake Street. Surprisingly, I haven't had to use a parking meter in 50 years. I contacted the Oak Park Police Department to inquire about how the parking meters work, but they were unsure and directed me to the parking department. Unfortunately, the parking department only allows you to leave a message and hasn't returned my calls. City Hall also couldn't provide information and suggested reaching out to the parking department again. Despite sending an email to the mayor or village president, I still haven't received a response. It's puzzling how a village can be unaware of how their parking meters function. Living in northwest Illinois where there are no meters on the streets, Oak Park's situation seems money-driven. Does anybody have insights on how the meters operate in Oak Park?
