Hello,
I served as an assistant organizer for a meetup group last year and continued this year by actively cultivating the community and planning events weekly. Unfortunately, the co-organizer abruptly removed me without prior notice, rendering me unable to access the group or continue organizing.
I am seeking assistance to address this situation and restore my access to the group to resume organizing for its members. The co-organizer had ownership but displayed no interest in the group for over a year, leaving me feeling unfairly excluded.
Thank you,
Sandor

I need assistance with a situation at a recent meet-up. The host accused me of stealing from her after I was looking for my belongings in her closet. She believed I took spare change from her pockets, claims witnessed by her friends at the event. She became upset because I accidentally spilled something on her carpet, though I was planning to clean it. She has now been spreading rumors about me at other gatherings and blocked me. I am worried about how to resolve this issue and prevent further consequences like involving the authorities. Some members are not responding to my messages, and I am seeking support to address this misinterpretation and clear my name.

I am facing a personal issue with a current member in my Meetup group. The member, who used to be my assistant and a close friend since I founded the group in July [redacted], has become distant towards me. Despite my attempts to invite her for a coffee chat to address any misunderstandings, she keeps using her busy work schedule to avoid me for the past month. I have given her a deadline until Dec. 13th to resolve our issues. As the organizer, I am considering using my discretion to remove her membership. However, some members feel that I am misusing my power. Can you advise if I am within my rights to take this action? - Caroline Koh, Founder & Organizer of the Above 50s Dinner Actually for Divorcees, Widows & Widowers in Singapore.

I'm facing a personal issue with a member in my Meetup Group. An ex-member with an attitude problem resigned, and now a current member who was my assistant and friend for the past year is acting cold towards me since the incident. Despite my efforts to invite her for a coffee chat to resolve any misunderstandings, she keeps using busy work schedules as an excuse to avoid meeting. I've set a deadline for her to resolve this by December 13th. Some members believe I may be abusing my power as an organizer if I remove her from the group. I seek advice on how to handle this situation without overstepping my rights.

I am writing from Singapore. I am the organizer of the "Above 50 "Dinner Actually" for Divorcees, Widows & Widowers" Meetup Group and I am reaching out to Meetup Inc. for advice to address a member issue I am encountering. The situation involves:
1. An ex-member with an attitude problem who has resigned.
2. A current member who used to be my Assistant and close friend for the past year but has recently distanced themselves from me.
3. Despite inviting this member for a coffee chat three times to discuss any misunderstandings or concerns, she has cited a busy schedule and avoided meeting with me.
4. I have set a deadline of December 13th for her to respond before considering terminating her membership.
5. I am considering utilizing my rights as the organizer to remove a member, but some individuals within the group have expressed dissatisfaction, claiming that I might be misusing my authority as the organizer. I seek clarification on whether my actions would constitute an abuse of power. Thank you, Caroline Koh.

I recently moved to Winston-Salem and am looking to connect with some Canasta players in the area. I have a deep love for the game and started playing at a very young age. I've tried contacting the number given but it seems to be out of service. I am surprised by the lack of assistance on Meetup for this. Could someone please guide me in the right direction? I'm feeling isolated without friends to share my passion for Canasta. Since I don't have a working phone number to share, I would like to provide my email for communication. Thank you for any help you can offer. Many people have recommended this platform for meeting like-minded individuals.

Today, two members forwarded me inappropriate messages from a man not part of our group. I tried to find his profile to block and report him, but it appears he deleted it. I wanted to bring this to your attention. I want to ensure the safety and privacy of my group. Any advice on further steps to enhance privacy and safety would be appreciated. I've changed our settings to Private and want to strike a balance without being overly paranoid. This incident left me feeling unsettled. Thank you for your assistance. - Kelley E.

I am a member of a group that has ceased planning meetings since the election of President Trump. The organizers cover the Meetup costs but refuse to schedule any gatherings, leaving many members, including myself, frustrated. I raised this issue on the communication page in October but received no response. With [redacted] members in the "LGBT Log Cabin Republicans Of Massachusetts" group, we are left wondering when the next event will be organized. I am reaching out to Meetup to address this situation and hopefully motivate the organizers to take action or pass the group leadership to someone else. Thank you for any assistance. - Michael

I recently discovered that meetup has unexpectedly removed my membership from multiple groups, including NOR, Cultured Creatures, Fabulous Women over 40, and Fabulous Women 45+. I did not initiate any cancellations, and I haven't violated any of the terms on the site. This isn't the first time my NOR membership has been erroneously terminated. I have reapplied to NOR but have not heard back yet. It's frustrating not being able to participate in group events. I've attempted to contact meetup through various methods but haven't found a customer email. Calling from Australia is not a feasible option. I request a swift resolution to this technical issue to restore my group memberships promptly.

Dear Meetup team,
My name is Edward Crim, and I am the director of a growing nonprofit in St. Louis, Missouri, focused on community building through photography. I manage three Meetup groups as part of this initiative: the Saint Louis Photography Club, Studio Creative, and The Tangible Image. The recent changes to Meetup group membership have impacted us significantly.
Previously, we had the option to allow members to join without paying dues, request payment after a trial period, or allow members to join without dues but pay when signing up for an event. We preferred the latter as it allowed us to engage a wider audience while still collecting dues for free events. Since the removal of this option, none of the members have paid dues.
We have concerns about the 8% total fees charged by Meetup and WePay. We prefer PayPal but it is not available on two of our Meetup groups. We understand the need for funding to offer free events and suggest reinstating the deleted option or adding a small fee on PayPal transactions. We value in-person communication and hope to resolve these issues constructively.
Sincerely,
Edward Crim

I am frustrated with Meetup as they deleted my group and events twice within 12 hours. I spent a lot of time setting everything up, only for it to be deleted unexpectedly. Meetup claims there are payment issues, but when I check, everything seems fine with the card I used. The lack of warning or communication is disappointing. It would be more helpful if they could suspend the group and notify me to address any payment problems instead of deleting everything abruptly. This experience is frustrating as the issue seems to be on Meetup's end, not mine. The customer service approach needs to be improved to avoid wasting users' time and effort.

I encountered an issue while trying to update the venue address for a Toastmaster meetup on my account. Despite multiple attempts on various web browsers, the address kept reverting to the old one until I managed to save the changes using MS Edge. I successfully updated the address and applied it to the meeting series, but the old venue information persisted. After editing some meetings and recreating the series with the correct address, the problem reappeared with the old venue being applied to alternate meetings. I would appreciate it if the system could be fixed to remove the Kroc Center address entirely.

Hello,
I reside in NYC. There has been an ongoing event on Meetup advertising a bottomless brunch at VSpot Cafe with comedy for quite some time. Despite repeated attempts to sign up through the Eventbrite link provided, it consistently shows the event as sold out. I have tried reaching out to the organizers multiple times with no response, indicating a lack of monitoring activity on the site.
Recently, I was informed by an acquaintance of the restaurant owner that they might still admit guests even if the event is sold out. Disappointingly, upon visiting the cafe in the rain, I discovered that the event is no longer taking place. It seems the information on the Meetup site is outdated and inaccurate.
I kindly request the removal of this misleading event from Meetup to prevent further confusion.
Thank you,
Melissa

Hello everyone,
About four years ago, I founded a MeetUp group in Los Angeles centered around Documentary Films and Lively Discussion. While I organized several events during the first year, my busy schedule prevented me from hosting more events thereafter. I've since relocated to the east coast and the MeetUp group has been inactive for over three years. I've been covering the monthly fees to keep it running, but I had intended to retire the group long ago. Unfortunately, I overlooked this and continued with the recurring payments.
I would like to cancel the MeetUp group now and was wondering if there is a possibility of receiving a partial refund on the monthly fees due to the long period of inactivity. I appreciate any insights on this matter.
Thank you,
David V. B.

I organized a meetup named "Brunches and Breakthroughs" with about [redacted] members. It was inactive, and I renewed my membership after receiving a message about it being reassigned. Now, I can't locate any of my members despite having records of messaging them. I'm concerned about losing touch with them and have been paying for the past 6 months, hoping to revitalize the group, only to discover it may have been closed. My name is Lauren Rock, and my email is: [redacted]. I appreciate any assistance, and I apologize for the multiple email addresses provided.

Hello,
I hope you are well. I have been a group organizer for some time, but recently, due to the passing of my mother and subsequent job loss, I had to step down. Another member has taken over the group payments, and I assumed I would be automatically unsubscribed. However, I was charged on 12/20. Given the challenges I've faced, a refund would be greatly appreciated. The new organizer has already paid for the group.
Thank you for your understanding. I attempted to contact meetup via phone and email without success, so I am reaching out this way. I look forward to hearing from customer service soon to clarify the next steps.

Due to illness, I couldn't attend events or realize I was being charged every 6 months. My recent charge caught my attention as I plan to use Meetup to promote our upcoming event. Could you refund the recent charge and apply the missed June charge instead? I value Meetup and look forward to its support. Thank you.

I have had to make the difficult decision to step down as the founding organizer of the "Chch Social Midlifers" group due to unfortunate circumstances. There has been a trend of ego clashes and a desire for recognition among members that led to a hostile environment within the group. My personal experiences with relationships within different meetup groups have been disheartening, resulting in exclusion and conflicts. Meetups should be about forming friendships, not seeking romantic partners, and I am disappointed by the current state of affairs in the community. It is important for organizers to cooperate rather than compete, and I have encountered challenges in trying to mediate issues between members. I believe it is time for members to contribute financially to group activities to alleviate the burden on organizers. I hope for a positive change in the meetup culture in Christchurch to focus on genuine connections and camaraderie rather than personal agendas.

I have been using Meetup for over a decade and recently had a surprising experience with a new meetup group in Asheville called HikeAsheville. After signing up, I discovered the organizer was charging $55 per person for a day hike in Dupont Forest, which included lunch from a local organic farm. I promptly canceled my RSVP as this seemed against the spirit of Meetup, where I believed organizers weren't meant to profit. When I expressed my concerns to the organizer about the high fee, he accused me of "bullying" and removed me from the group without addressing my issue. This departure from the usual Meetup practices left me quite unsettled. I hope Meetup can investigate this organizer's compatibility with the platform’s values. If Meetup now allows organizers to profit, it would be useful to inform the community. Thank you for your attention. Happy Trails, E. K. from Asheville, NC [redacted].

I was charged a 6-month fee even after removing my credit card from the system. Although the issue has been resolved with the refund, I am looking for an alternative payment method to avoid leaving my credit card details in your system. I am interested in paying via email or PayPal.
I am the organizer of a group with close to [redacted] members, and it is one of the most popular groups on the platform. I wish to continue as the organizer but am concerned about the security of my credit card information. I have been unable to reach anyone by phone to address this matter. If someone could please contact me, my number is [redacted]. Thank you.
