I have not received my Virginia State tax refund for the past two years. Around 20+ years ago, I owned a flea market business, and the Virginia Department of Taxation caused issues for several years after I closed the business. Despite proving that my business was closed, I faced delays in receiving my refunds. While my Virginia taxes are processed, I am concerned about the whereabouts of my refunds. I do not receive any notifications before tax filing time, which is troubling. I am unsure why I am not receiving my Virginia State tax refunds when my federal refund comes through without any problems annually.

I believe I may have overpaid my [redacted] Virginia tax bill. After doing the calculations for my tax return, it turns out I owed $1,[redacted]. My tax accountant provided my bank checking account details which show a withdrawal for this amount sent to you. However, without knowing this, I also mailed a personal check (PNC Bank Check # [redacted]) for the same amount. My wife and I, Wesley K. Caine and Ai M. Caine, filed jointly and live at [redacted] N. River St., McLean VA, [redacted]. I am hesitant to provide our Social Security Numbers in writing but can share them over the phone at [redacted]. I am looking for guidance on how to resolve this payment duplication. Thank you for your assistance. - W.K. Caine.

A few weeks back, I received a letter from the Department indicating they couldn't locate my [redacted] tax return. They requested a copy of it, which I seemed to have misplaced. Despite having filed my federal return for that year, I couldn't find my copy. I decided to recreate the [redacted] return, but I'm awaiting my W-2 form from work, which I need by tomorrow. It's crucial the tax information is accurate as the tax owed mentioned in the letter is higher without considering my withheld taxes. I'm reaching out by email since I've had trouble contacting your office by phone recently.

My employer recently received a letter from the Commonwealth of Virginia alleging tax debts from the years [redacted] and [redacted], which I dispute as I did not reside in Virginia during that time. I attempted to reach Barbara Toellner at [redacted] but was directed to speak with someone named "Mrs. Esthers." She referred me to another person, "Mrs. Williams," at [redacted]. Concerned this may be a scam, especially after providing my social security number, I seek assurance regarding the legitimacy of these contacts.
