I settled my collateral loan more than two months ago but have not yet received the check. After contacting on Friday, I received a message yesterday stating they won't issue a new check until I sign an affidavit at my expense to have it notarized. I find this procedure unreasonable. I contacted several financial institutions in the area, and none have heard of such a practice. If the original check hadn't been cashed as verified by Chartway, they should have immediately stopped payment rather than require a notarized affidavit from me. I already filed a complaint with the BBB, though I noticed Chartway is not registered. Disappointed in the lack of customer service.
