This number appears to be solely an automated system, which isn't a bad thing because it's actually quite helpful. When you call, you're able to use this number to set up a phone number with Simple Mobile. The system will ask you to add to your service, add a line to your account, change your phone number, get tech support, purchase phones or activate a new phone number.
I opted to go with adding a line to my account, and the system took me into the section for adding a line. It asked me to enter in the information from my Simply Mobile device, which I didn't have available. I gave no response, and the system gave me three opportunities to enter my information.
After the third opportunity, the system took me to a totally different menu, where I could choose to enter in my phone number that I wanted to add. I chose not to enter my phone number at this point, as I was worried that doing so would cause it to attempt to change my number.
I tried a second call, and with this one, I decided to try changing my phone number. This time, the system took me over to a section that asked me to input the number that I wanted to change. It appears that the system has it built in that only existing customers can change a number, as it would not accept the phone number I entered on two occasions.
Based off this, it appears that Simply Mobile has a fine setup that allows customers to get help from the automated system whenever they need it. If I were a customer of Simply Mobile, I would absolutely use this number again if I were to need assistance.
