How Can I Move Photos on Squarespace?

If you are using Squarespace to build an e-commerce website, you need to learn how to move pictures around on that site. Doing so is simply a matter of "grabbing" the picture with the cursor and dragging it to a new location. You can use this technique to create rows of equal size even with pictures of different sizes.

If you're using Squarespace to build and host your business site, a big part of your job is probably going to involve moving pictures around on your website, as inventories and promotions change. To learn how to do that, keep reading.

Squarespace Block Layout

Squarespace makes website building easy with its block layout format. Every Squarespace website has an invisible grid laid over it, and blocks that contain pictures or other elements are placed on this grid at specific locations. To move a picture, all you need to do is drag the block containing it to new coordinates, using the guidelines that appear to work out the best position.

Moving a Picture Block

To move a picture block to a new location, just hover the cursor over the block until it turns into a hand. If it doesn't change, click or tap on the picture. Next, click on the block to "grab" it and drag it to a new location. To set its exact position, line it up with the guidelines.

Creating Height-Matching Rows

You might want to have your pictures appear all in a row and, if you do, you need them to all be the same height, of course. Fortunately, you don't need to go and resize all the picture blocks by hand. Instead, once you have the first one set in its proper location, grab the next picture block you want in the row, and move it around the first. Guidelines will appear that show the placement and size. Once the guidelines are set the way you want, place the block. Keep repeating this procedure for all the other pictures in the row.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Squarespace Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Squarespace in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our How Can I Move Photos on Squarespace? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible.
