If you feel there are inaccuracies with the report of your student loans on your credit report by MOHELA, it is crucial you address this quickly. Start by gathering any relevant documents or information that support your case. Then, contact MOHELA directly to dispute the mistake. Relay your concerns, provide them with the necessary documents, and ask for a correction. If this doesn't solve the issue, you have the right to file a dispute with the credit-reporting agency. The agency must investigate the item(s) in question within 30 business days, and if the information can't be verified, then it must be removed. You can also dispute errors with the original credit creditor, in this case, MOHELA.

If you're struggling to make your loan payments, MOHELA offers options to help ease your burden. You can apply for income-driven repayment plans, which adjust your monthly payments based on your income. Plus, deferment and forbearance options can temporarily stop or reduce your payments if you're experiencing financial hardship or other certain conditions. As for your application status, there isn't an option to check it directly online with MOHELA. Normally, you'll be notified by mail or email once your application has been processed and a decision has been made.

You could apply for an income-driven repayment plan, which would adjust your monthly payments according to your income and family size. There are also extended and graduated repayment plans which could lower your payments by extending the repayment period or starting with lower payments that gradually increase. If you're experiencing temporary financial hardship, you might qualify for a deferment or forbearance that would allow you to temporarily stop or reduce your payments.
