Can I Get a Refund If ChowNow Takes Too Long?

ChowNow is a third-party website plugin which restaurant owners can use for commission-free food delivery and pickup. If your ChowNow order was unsatisfactory or arrived too late, you have several options to resolve the issue.

Double Check

ChowNow allows users to schedule their delivery. While an ASAP option is available for some restaurants, others ask you to schedule delivery based on a time slot. If you scheduled your delivery, double check your order history to ensure you picked the correct delivery time. ChowNow currently does not track orders, but does send a confirmation email with an estimated time of delivery. Check this email as well; if the restaurant is unusually busy, orders may take longer than normal to arrive.

If you selected the wrong delivery time, you may sometimes be able to cancel your order and receive a refund. This may not always be an option, but can be one way to obtain a refund.

Contact the Restaurant

Due to the nature of the relationship between ChowNow and participating restaurants, unlike other third-party delivery apps, restaurants have more control over orders and deliveries. If your order is late or you would like a refund, your best bet is thus to call the restaurant directly. ChowNow does not include phone numbers of participating restaurants, so you will have to use Google, Yelp, or a similar service to get the restaurant's phone number.

Due to a lack of order tracking, you will need to contact the restaurant directly if you have questions regarding your order status, including if the estimated time of arrival has changed or is otherwise different than on your confirmation email.

When you get ahold of the restaurant, explain what you ordered and the delivery issue. If your food was cold, wilted, or otherwise unappetizing, explain that. The nature of the refund is up to the restaurant in question - they may replace your order, offer you store credit, or refund your order entirely.

If your experience dealing with the restaurant was unsatisfactory, you can contact ChowNow directly. You can call ChowNow using this phone number, or access their live chat option on the website. Both options directly connect you to a human customer service representative. Once you connect, explain your issue, including the name of the restaurant, what you ordered, and which aspect(s) of your order were unsatisfactory. ChowNow's customer service email is a bit slower than the first two options, but you should receive a response within about an hour.

Depending on the nature of your complaint, ChowNow may ask you to fill out a cancellation form or discuss your issue with a Restaurant Success Manager. ChowNow's ability to issue a refund is limited, but they may be able to direct the restaurant to satisfactorily resolve your issue.
