How Do I Share My Screen on Adobe Connect?

To share your screen using Adobe Connect, make sure you either are the meeting host, a designated presenter, or have been given the right permissions from the host. If you plan to share video, or your webcam feed, optimize your settings before sharing. If you plan to share files, have those files easily available. To start screen sharing, navigate to the Share pod. You can share individual applications or windows if using the desktop-based app. Click 'Share' when you are ready to share.

Adobe Connect is a popular software for conducting virtual meetings, and one of its features is allowing certain meeting participants to share their screen. To share your screen, do the following:

Set Appropriate Permissions

By default, the meeting host and any designated presenters are permitted to share their screens. If you are not a meeting host, double check that the host has assigned you the appropriate permissions to share your screen.

Optimize Settings

Before sharing, ensure your settings are appropriate for the content you wish to share. Use the following standards:

  • High Quality: For 20 fps video at a maximum resolution of 640 x 480.
  • Standard Quality: For 10 fps video at a maximum resolution of 320 x 240.
  • Medium Quality: For 8 fps video at a maximum resolution of 320 x 240.
  • Low Quality: For 4 fps video at a maximum resolution of 160 x 120.

You can also disable your webcam by selecting "Privacy" under the "Video" dropdown and clicking on "Disable Webcam Preview." While under "Privacy" you can also click on "Highlight Active Speakers," which will cause Adobe Connect to highlight whomever is speaking.

Screen Sharing

After you have chosen the right settings, make sure to have the files you intend to share easy to hand. The best way to do this is by having the file folder containing the files open on your desktop.

Once you are ready to share your screen, navigate to the Share pod in your meeting. Click on "Layouts," then "Sharing." Choose "Share" and then "Add New Share." From here, you can drag and drop your files into the Share Pod.

Alternatively, you can select to share only individual applications or windows on your desktop. Note that you must have the application version of Adobe Connect to use this feature; it will not work in the browser version.

Once you are ready, click the "Share" button to begin sharing your screen. You can pause or stop the screen sharing at any time.

If you encounter any problems with sharing your screen, copy down any error message and contact Adobe Connect Customer Support.
