How Do I Change the Background on Adobe Connect?

Adobe Connect allows meeting hosts to change the backgrounds of their meetings to a specific image. Images should be .jpgs, 1024 by 768 pixels. After opening the meeting, the host should select "Meetings" from the file bar, then "Preferences." On the Preferences screen, select the "General" tab and then "Room Appearances." From here, click on "Upload," then "Browse My Computer." Navigate to the folder containing the selected image, click on the image, and then click on "OK." The image should now upload, and you have the option to change its alignment if necessary.

Adobe Connect is a a powerful meeting-oriented software which allows teachers, managers, and others to bring people together for lessons, collaborations, or other meetings. One feature of Adobe Connect is the ability to personalize meeting rooms by allowing users to change the background. Managers can set the background to their company logo, teachers can tailor the meeting to their school colors, or hosts can simply personalize the meeting as they wish.

To change your meeting background to a specific image, you must first have the image to hand. For best results, image files should be in .jpg format and 1024 by 768 pixels. Images bigger or smaller than those dimensions may appear distorted.

Once you have the proper sized .jpg, follow this procedure:

  • Open Adobe Connect and then select the meeting you wish to customize.
  • Select "Meeting" from the file bar.
  • Select "Preferences" from the drop-down menu.
  • You will see a screen full of options. Click on "General" (in the list to the left), and then "Room Appearance".
  • You will see a screen showing the default background (a grey box). Below this is a button reading "Upload". Click that button.
  • Next, choose "Browse My Computer." This opens a file navigator. Navigate to the folder containing your chosen image, then select it. Click "Open."
    • Adobe Connect will now upload your image file to your account. When you next hit "Upload," you should see a list of already-uploaded files, including this image file. Now, instead of uploading the file again, you simply have to select the image and hit "OK."
  • You should now be back at the Room Appearance screen. This time, instead of seeing a grey box for Default Appearance, you should see your chosen image.
    • You can, if you wish, click on the "Alignment" dropdown to adjust your image to be aligned Top-Left, Top-Right, Bottom-Left, or Bottom-Right. This shouldn't be an issue if your image is 1024 x 768, but can help make smaller or larger files look nicer.

And you're done! If you encounter a problem while trying to set a custom background, contact Adobe Customer Support at any time between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, Eastern Standard Time. Write down any error messages you received, along with what you were trying to do when the error occurred.
