When you call Samsung Pay, you are immediately asked to enter the telephone number associated with your account. This was immediately frustrating because despite calling with that phone and entering the phone number, it told me that it did not recognize the phone that I was calling from and hung up on me.
It took me several attempts to actually get through the system and have it recognize my phone number. While I read that pressing 0 could help you skip to customer service, it did not help in this instance. The phone recording would simply tell me that it was an invalid response.
This seemed to be a common problem when I looked it up online, and there is nothing more frustrating than being hung up on while trying to get help. Once I got through, I got a directory and was able to press 0 to skip the process and talk to a customer service representative.
While I was waiting to talk to someone, I went online to see if I could just talk to someone via live chat, but that didn't work either. While Samsung Pay promises 24/7 support, it fails to mention that this support is virtual and not actually a real person. I could not type into the chat box, and all it did as I selected options was send me to an FAQ and give me the option to email.
It took about 10 minutes for a representative to pick up the phone. They had a thick accent, and it took a few tries to properly convey what I needed help with. I am having trouble updating my new debit card. I just need to change the expiration date and the CVV code, but it keeps telling me the card is already registered.
The representative did offer me a process to go through to remove the old card and put the new one on, but I am getting stuck at the same step, which they don't seem to understand. I ended up asking to speak to a manager who was helpful enough.
In the end, it took me over 15 minutes with the customer service department to resolve my issue, and I feel like the issue was simple enough that it could have been a quick minute. While it wasn't my worst customer service experience, I certainly wouldn't rave to anyone about it.
