Who is eligible for Direct Loans?

Asked 7 months ago
To be eligible for Direct Loans, you must meet certain criteria. Firstly, you must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen. Secondly, you must be enrolled at least half-time in an eligible program at a participating school. Thirdly, you cannot be in default on any previous federal student loans. Additionally, male applicants must register with the Selective Service System, unless they meet certain exceptions. You should also maintain satisfactory academic progress in your respective program. Finally, financial need is not a requirement for Direct Unsubsidized Loans, but it is for Direct Subsidized Loans. By meeting these eligibility requirements, you can apply for and potentially receive Direct Loans to assist with your educational expenses.
