The issue in GetHuman-joelfami's own words
Just trying to shop without being harassed, extremely embarrassing to be confronted out in public just for using my service dog in the way I need her. ... I have a small service dog that I put in the cart due to her having a bad leg I put down a towel and blanket to protect the cart yet I have been confronted by management telling me I cannot put my service dog in the cart. I have been told it is a health department regulation, an OSHA law, and a store policy. I have been told to remove her from the cart or to remove myself from the store. I am wondering if it is truly your policy to discriminate against the handicapped. She is identified as a service dog by her vest marked “service dog”
I have both physical and emotional issues that require my service dog to be close to me at all times, if I start to have an episode she will alert me before it gets out of control by climbing on my chest or licking my neck.
All I need is some kind of notification that I can print out and take with me to the store and show management that this issue is OK for me to half my service dog where I need her to be
I protect the cart with a towel and blanket
I was told at one point I cannot have my service dog in the cart due to allergies at which point I am formed management that if someone has allergies that is what the wipes are for, how do they know if the last person had not eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich before coming to the store & left peanut residue on the handle? Someone with allergies would obviously use the wipes before handling the cart so allergies to dogs should not be an issue if people are using the wipes due to allergies. I was told that does not matter and that I cannot have my service dog in the cart regardless of my needs.
I have an issue with Meijer too
