LOT refuses to provide a written letter with the reasons for a flight cancellation. Without it I cannot claim with my travel insurer.

The issue in GetHuman-chmieleg's own words
Trying to claim travel insurance ... Flight LO **** from Rzeszow to Warsaw on Monday **rd September was cancelled. Consequently In line with my travel insurance policy, I made a claim. Now LOT issued a rough paper statement. To verify the claim properly, the travel insurance company needs written confirmation from LOT. So I presented the request to LOT. LOT has come back that they do not issue written confirmations on cancelled flights. The insurance company has to apply directly to them. As a consequence it invalidates the whole point of taking out travel insurance. I think my rights are to have a written confirmation of the delay and there should be no reason for them to refuse. Stinks of the communist mentality which should have been purged by now, but seems exhant in the younger generation. I was advised by the insurance company to file for a claim from them, and send them the reasons for refusal.
This is specially frustrating, as they willl not do the obvious and if there was something more serious, they will not cooperate. I dont yet know if they are acting unlawfully.
They could make it right by issuing the letter as requested by the insurer, but they want the insurer to contact them directly. THe insurere is bound by GDPR rules.
