Several nights ago (* to be precise) lightening struck my house. Numerous electrical devices were adversely affected or ruined. Among them was my Hughesnet modem*wifi unit. I have no internet. Since it happened I have call the "Customer Support" number numerous (at least *) times and either I can't understand the language being spoken by the Hughesnet Rep or my call gets cut off while I'm on hold. *Last night (****) I called to terminate my service. Interestingly the Hughesnet Rep I spoke to (I think his name was Angelo Diaz from Brownsville, Texas) was not only completely understandable but he was very helpful. He was the FIRST positive encounter I had with customer service. After some discussion, we agreed that Mr. Diaz would ship a new modem and credit my account for several days that I've been without internet. *Approximately two hours later, I received a call from another Hughesnet Rep who wanted to reneg on what had been agreed to. it was nine O'clock (*:** p.m.) and I had just gone to bed as I get up at *:** a.m. daily. I was angry to say the least. I thought the problem had been resolved and she wanted to go through the same old scripted questions I had already responded to numerous times. Unfortunately, your customer service reps treat your customers like they are idiots and know nothing about computers, modems and such. To be sure, I have turn off, unplugged, reset my modem. Indeed, I've done everything short of cpr. At one point one of your reps wanted me to click on a web browser which was pointless because MY INTERNET CONNECTIVITY IS DOWN!!!!!*The point of this chat is to find out whether hughesnet is going to honor the commitment made on the phone last night or am I going to get another satellite internet provider? *My name is Douglas C.
