I received a peculiar phone call this morning regarding an outstanding payment from Greystar for my former lease at Element Deer Valley in Phoenix, Arizona. We moved out in October, and everything seemed fine at the time. I find it hard to believe there is an overdue amount as it doesn't show on my credit report or the credit reports of other tenants on the lease. The caller knew personal details but nothing was received from Greystar about owing money. I was unable to check the resident portal as Element Deer Valley has new management. When I visited their office, they mentioned that Greystar would retain the lease records even though the property changed hands last year. This situation is puzzling, and I seek clarification.

I am a resident at Alvista Harmony in Fort Collins, CO, and will be moving out by the end of November [redacted]. There's a recurring issue with water pooling under my stairway during rainy or snowy weather, which I have reported several times along with my neighbor. Last night, on 11/06/[redacted] between 9:20PM - 9:30PM, I slipped on ice in front of my stairway and injured my fingers. Despite multiple complaints to the office about various matters like a leaking sink, a broken AC, and a faulty hot water heater, the responses and repairs have been inadequate. After a plumber damaged my carpet fixing the water heater, no follow-up was received. The sink, promised to be fixed promptly, is still leaking under the cabinet two weeks later. I am frustrated by the lack of action. I have documentation of these issues and injuries and will consider legal action if necessary. Please address this situation promptly. Thank you. -Carolyn Briscoe

I received an email on 4/18/22 and a call on 4/19/22 from a collection company representing Durham Heights Apartments in Houston, TX. In July [redacted], my son and I applied to lease an apartment there. We paid $[redacted].00 with the application but decided not to proceed with the lease and stopped the application process in July [redacted]. We believe we owe nothing to Durham Heights Apartments. However, recently, I received a call from a collection company stating I owe $75.00 and that they have reported me to the credit bureaus. They had all my personal information, including my Social Security number. The company identified themselves as COLUMBIA DEBT RECOVERY LLC DBA GENESIS from Everett, WA. I checked with Durham Heights Apartments, and they have no record of any outstanding payment or of this collection agency. Greystar Corporation managed the complex until February [redacted] when a new management company took over. I am unsure of how to proceed. Is this collection company legitimate? What should I do about my leaked personal information? Thank you, Pamela Smithwick.
