get some satisfaction from the dealings that I had with the Budget Rent a Car in Boulder, CO. I do think it must have been an error on the "corporate side," rather than with the staff at this location, but I expect that if I make arrangements to rent a vehicle * weeks ahead of time, I will get the vehicle I asked for, or one very similar. ... On June **, ****, I made a reservation to pick up a standard SUV - Ford Edge or similar - for July **-Aug. *.*This was for the **** Baseline, Boulder, CO, location.*When we got there, we were told that they were sorry, but there were no cars available. I explained that we were supposed to be on our way to Estes Park CO within the hour. Still, "We're sorry." (I don't think I was the only one that this happened to, but I was evidently the first one in line.) The mgr. told us to just go on our way and if they got a car, they'd call us.*I told him that we would sit and wait, since we had no way to go anywhere.*Then, in a few minutes, he said that he did have a Jeep Compass that was smaller. Did I want that?*The young woman who was there besides the mgr. walked us out to the car, and though it hadn't been cleaned up, we decided that it was the lesser of two evils.*Then, when the girl rang up that car, I was told that it would be $*** more for a car that was smaller, and not what I asked for.*This was ridiculous. Then the mgr. said he'd try to get the cost down. It wound up being only $** less than our original bill.*This car didn't even have enough room in the back end to put our luggage - just four checked bags and two carry-ons.*The car was difficult for us to get in and out of. To get out, you have to step over the bottom of the door opening, and then step down. *Also, no one explained anything to us. We couldn't figure how to get the emergency brake off, first. Then we discovered that we were driving at night with no lights. Someone had turned off the automatic switch for the outside lights.*I think that, considering the frustration of being told that we wouldn't even get a car, and then getting a car that was not what we asked for and smaller, and that nothing was explained to us, that the $*** dollars total, including taxes and fees, should be significantly reduced. When I questioned the manager about this, he just told me I'd have to contact customer service.
I tried to use GetHuman to help me get to a human. The message was that I would be connected in * minutes. After I waited literally for one hour, I just quit trying.
reducing the price that I was charged because the vehicle I got was smaller - couldn't even put all the luggage from our flight in the back end. The car was hard to get in and out of. I think my time in waiting should be worth something else.
I tried to call Budget and never could talk to a human.
