How does radiant barrier work?

Asked a year ago
Radiant barrier works by reflecting radiant heat. It is a reflective insulation product that helps reduce heat transfer through radiation. When the sun's radiant energy strikes a roof, it heats up the roofing material. This heat is then transferred into the attic space and eventually radiates into the living areas below. However, by installing radiant barrier, made up of a highly reflective material, on the underside of the roof, it blocks the majority of radiant heat from entering the attic. Instead of absorbing the heat, the barrier reflects it back towards the outside, reducing the amount of heat that enters the living space. This results in a cooler and more comfortable home, particularly during hot summer months. Radiant barrier improves energy efficiency by reducing the need for excessive air conditioning, ultimately saving money on cooling costs.
