What are the requirements for obtaining a marriage license in Puerto Rico?

Asked 6 months ago
To obtain a marriage license in Puerto Rico, several requirements must be met. Both individuals must be at least 18 years old or obtain parental consent if younger. A valid identification document, such as a driver's license or passport, is necessary. Couples must also provide their birth certificates, which must be translated into Spanish if not originally in the language. If either party has been previously married, they must present divorce or death certificates as proof of dissolution. Additionally, a blood test is required at least ten days before the wedding ceremony. Once these requirements are fulfilled, couples can apply for a marriage license at the local Demographic Registry office. It is advisable to start the application process several weeks in advance to ensure all documentation is in order.
