What should I do if I experience a power outage?

Asked a year ago
If you experience a power outage, first check to see if your neighbors are also affected to determine if it is a widespread issue. You should report the outage to your utility company as soon as possible, even if you think others may have already done so. Unplug major appliances and electronics to prevent damage from power surges when the power is restored. Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed to maintain the cold temperature inside. Use flashlights instead of candles for emergency lighting. Avoid opening your garage door manually if you have an automatic opener. Stay safe and patient during the outage, as crews work to restore power as quickly as possible.
