What is the difference between DDR3 and DDR4 RAM?

Asked a year ago
DDR3 and DDR4 RAM (Random Access Memory) are two different generations of computer memory. The main difference lies in their architecture and performance. DDR3 RAM, an earlier version, has a lower data transfer rate, ranging from 800 MHz to 2133 MHz, and operates at a voltage of 1.5V. In contrast, DDR4 RAM is the newer and faster version with a higher data transfer rate, ranging from 2133 MHz to 3200 MHz, and operates at a lower voltage of 1.2V. Due to its improved architecture, DDR4 RAM offers higher bandwidth, lower power consumption, and improved error correction capabilities. It supports larger memory modules, up to 128GB, compared to DDR3's 64GB limit. Overall, DDR4 RAM provides better performance and efficiency, making it the preferred choice for modern computers and systems.
