What is metal clay?
Metal clay is a versatile material used in jewelry making and crafting. It consists of finely powdered metal, such as silver or gold, mixed with an organic binder and water to create a clay-like substance. This mixture can be molded, shaped, and textured just like traditional clay. Once the desired form is achieved, the metal clay is dried and fired at high temperatures. During the firing process, the binder burns off, leaving behind a solid metal object. Metal clay allows for intricate designs and details that are difficult to achieve using traditional metalworking techniques. It offers artists and jewelry makers the freedom to create unique and one-of-a-kind pieces in various metals, including silver, gold, copper, and bronze.
