What is the process for transferring a vehicle title?

Asked a year ago
To transfer a vehicle title in Louisiana, you will need to complete the title assignment on the back of the current title with the buyer's information. Both the buyer and seller must sign the title. If there is a lien on the vehicle, the lienholder must complete and sign the title with a notary. You must also complete a Vehicle Application with required fees and submit these documents to the Office of Motor Vehicles either in person or by mail. The buyer will then receive a new title with their name on it. Make sure to remove the license plate before transferring the title.
