What are the vision requirements for obtaining a driver's license in Iowa?

Asked 6 months ago
To obtain a driver's license in Iowa, specific vision requirements must be met. According to the Iowa Motor Vehicle Division (DMV/RMV), the minimum visual acuity needed is 20/40 or better in at least one eye. If the vision in one eye is weaker, the other eye must compensate and have 20/60 or better acuity. Additionally, peripheral vision should be at least 105 degrees in the horizontal meridian. Applicants who wear corrective lenses during the vision exam will be granted a license with the restriction that they must wear glasses or contact lenses while driving. However, those who can meet the minimum vision standards without corrective lenses will not have this restriction on their license.
