What is the history of Constellation Brands?
Constellation Brands traces its roots back to 1945 when Marvin Sands founded the Canandaigua Industries Company. Originally a small wine business, it expanded steadily over the years, acquiring wineries across the United States. In 1973, the company changed its name to Canandaigua Wine Company and went public. In the 1980s and 1990s, Canandaigua Wine Company underwent significant growth through mergers and acquisitions, which included acquiring the Mondavi wine brand. In 2000, the company changed its name to Constellation Brands to reflect its diverse beverage portfolio. Over the years, Constellation Brands extended its presence in various categories, including beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages. Today, it is a leading international producer and marketer of alcoholic beverages, with a wide-ranging portfolio of popular brands enjoyed by millions worldwide.
