What is tinnitus and how can it be treated?

Asked 6 months ago
Tinnitus is a condition characterized by perceiving sounds in the ears or head without any external source. It often presents as ringing, buzzing, or hissing noises. To treat tinnitus, several approaches exist. One common method is sound therapy, wherein external noises, like low-level white noise or gentle music, are introduced to divert attention from the tinnitus sounds. Additionally, hearing aids can aid in managing tinnitus by amplifying external sounds and improving overall hearing. For some cases, counseling and education may be recommended to enhance coping strategies and reduce the emotional impact of tinnitus. In certain situations, cognitive behavioral therapy or relaxation techniques can help individuals cope better with the condition. While there currently isn't a definitive cure for tinnitus, these treatments aim to manage and reduce its impact on daily life.
