I am looking to renew my driver's license. I am 76 years old and have been known as Lucy for 60 years. Even though my birth certificate reads Lucille Eugenie Marie Bourassa and my marriage certificate states Lucille Marie Jackson, I have always gone by Lucy. From high school to my professional life, everyone knows me as Lucy. Recently, the DMV informed me that I needed to change my name back to Lucille with the Social Security Administration. This would require altering 73 years of paperwork, including property deeds, financial accounts, legal documents, and medical records. The thought of this extensive process is overwhelming, especially considering my health issues and regular medical appointments. I adhere to laws and regulations, but this particular requirement feels excessive and unnecessary. I am requesting that my driver's license be issued under the name Lucy M. Jackson, as it has been my identity for most of my life.

On Friday, April 29th, [redacted], I had an appointment at the MVD office on Louisiana Blvd. When I entered, there was loud rap music playing, and no one seemed available to assist me. I heard inappropriate noises coming from inside, which made me uncomfortable. Despite multiple attempts to get help, the situation did not improve. The staff member appeared to be under the influence and was not able to effectively assist me during the three-hour appointment. It was frustrating, and I felt unheard. I hope this experience is not typical for this office. I have documentation of the incident if needed.
