I am in a difficult situation as I am unwell and my husband is unable to manage our finances. I am considering whether to hire an accountant or deal with the GST myself. Our property at 28A Eureka Road, RD7 Hamilton is currently valued at $[redacted],[redacted] with the land and house. The house was not previously claimed for GST. The accountant we are considering is UBT in Te Rapa. Our property is listed under WDC as number [redacted] and our IRD farm account is [redacted]2 under Robert and Vicki Dance. In [redacted], upon my retirement with a pension and a SIPP, I obtained a protection certificate to safeguard my pension contributions. However, in [redacted] while employed, I mistakenly opted in for pension contributions without considering the impact on my [redacted] protection. Due to the complexity of the online system and being one of the older employees, I overlooked this crucial detail. Recently, upon finding the protection certificate, I realized the potential £60 daily fine for breaching the terms. I promptly contacted HR at my workplace to cease contributions and seek a resolution. They requested guidance from a financial advisor to reverse the contributions and possibly reinstate my [redacted] protection. Feeling anxious, I am considering reaching out to the HMRC directly for an appeal, despite the challenge of contacting them due to long wait times and expensive phone calls. The stress of this situation is taking a toll on my well-being, and I seek assistance and guidance to rectify this error promptly.
