I've been a loyal customer at Family Dollar for as long as I can remember. It's the only store I go to regularly for my shopping needs. Over the years, I've seen many employees come and go. Unfortunately, my recent experience at my local Family Dollar was extremely disappointing. The way I was treated made me feel like a complete stranger in a store I've frequented for so long. The managers and sales associates were disrespectful, the shelves were empty, the store was unkempt, and there was inappropriate behavior among customers. Today, I was even asked to leave because I was supposedly causing trouble with my 12-year neighbor. Despite being known by the staff who have even offered me a job before, this experience has led me to decide that I will no longer be shopping at Family Dollar.

I've been on a ten-day assignment with Family Dollar, and it has been a terrible experience. The manager, Doug, is incredibly rude and racist, harassing me constantly. He lacks leadership qualities and abuses his power by threatening to send me home. The other manager is also rude and gossips all day, showing favoritism towards her family. They both struggle to give clear directions and clash due to their egos. I've had enough of Doug's constant harassment and belittling. They both treat employees poorly, expecting us to work like slaves without any respect or consideration. Today, while doing my job, the manager harassed me once again over a trivial issue. Their behavior is disrespectful, racist, and unprofessional. They need to improve their leadership and communication skills if they want to create a more positive work environment.

I purchased a $1 item, MoonPies, at the new store in Gates, NY. When I opened one to eat it, I found it to be extremely stale. The marshmallow was so hard that I couldn't even squish it between my fingers. This happened the day after I bought it, and I had the receipt. When I asked for a refund, I was told that the staleness was due to oxygen exposure. I explained that I had opened it, but the person insisted on not providing a refund for the $1 item. I was surprised by this response as every store usually stands by their products. This experience has left me disappointed, and I doubt I will return to Family Dollar, even though I generally like the store. The salesperson, who claimed to be the manager, was in his 20s and of Black origin. I even requested to speak to his manager, but he stated that he was in charge. Despite having the receipt, I was denied a refund within less than 24 hours of purchase.

I recently returned from visiting Family Dollar store #[redacted], which I frequent as it's conveniently located near my home. Upon entering, I was greeted by a male and a female employee, with the female potentially named Marlene. While browsing the clearance section, an employee asked me to leave my sports bag at the front, which I found unusual and unsettling since I carry personal items like my wallet, keys, and phone in it. This request offended me as a loyal customer of over a year who visits the store multiple times a week without any previous issues. Feeling uncomfortable, I left the store without further exploring or purchasing items. I tried contacting the store multiple times to address the situation but received no response. This experience left me feeling singled out and misunderstood, raising questions about the store's policies and treatment of customers. I hope to understand why this incident occurred to prevent feeling unfairly targeted in the future. Thank you for your attention and support in clarifying this matter. Regards, Emannuel Gonzalez

Hello, I am Jaime Maldonado, employee number [redacted], and I worked at the store on Pleasant Valley and E 7th St in Austin, Texas. Over the past week, I have been attempting to contact my store manager, but he has not responded to my texts or calls. When I went to the store, he was not there. I was recently demoted and given only three days of work every three weeks, which is not enough for me to live on. Despite being told it was due to cutting hours, there are still three employees working at the same time. I believe something is not right and I need to speak with Robyn, our district manager. Could you please provide me with her contact information? Additionally, I am on a Section 8 voucher and it is crucial for housing that I confirm my work status with Family Dollar. I am struggling to get a clear response from my employer, and I hope to resolve this with Robyn's assistance. Please contact me via email as my phone only receives texts. Thank you, Jaime.

Hello, I am Jaime M., employee number [redacted] from the store on Pleasant Valley and E 7th St, Austin, Texas. I have been attempting to reach my store manager for the past week, but he has not been responding to my texts or calls. When I visited the store, he was not there. I have recently been demoted and am now only scheduled to work 3 days in three weeks, which is not enough for me to make a living. The explanation given was that my hours needed to be cut, but I am confused as to how this is happening when there are 3 employees working at the same time. I am looking to speak to Robyn, our district manager, to address this issue. Please provide me with her contact information. I am currently on a Section 8 voucher and pay $[redacted] a month for rent. My last paycheck was $[redacted], which is not enough to cover my bills. Housing requires a letter from Family Dollar confirming my employment status, but I have not been able to obtain one. My home is at risk, and I need assistance. I am only able to respond to emails as my phone does not receive calls. Thank you, Jaime.

During my recent visit to store number [redacted] in Sumter, South Carolina, I encountered some issues that left me feeling dissatisfied. Upon entering the store, I had to wait for approximately 10 minutes for an employee to come to the front for checkout because there was only one staff member working. In the meantime, I witnessed two customers leaving with merchandise in hand. The employee without a name tag checked me out abruptly, and I noticed discrepancies in the pricing of items on my receipt. The Nestle Pure Life water was rung up at $4.50 instead of the displayed $3.50. When I questioned this, the employee had to check with a manager but was unable to reach them. She then refused to honor the displayed prices, claiming the sign was not in the correct place. Additionally, another item, a 6-pack of Coke, was also priced incorrectly. Despite my frustration, the employee was unhelpful and instructed me to return when the manager was present without specifying a time. She promptly issued a refund without addressing my concerns adequately. I believe this situation could have been handled more professionally, and I was disappointed by the lack of assistance and communication from the employee who was not wearing a name tag.

Many stores in the poorer areas of the Atlanta, Georgia metro area lack proper customer service and are not well-maintained. One particular store in my neighborhood, located at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Covington Highway in Decatur, Georgia [redacted], stands out for its cleanliness issues. Despite reporting the problem to an employee, I was informed that no one bothers to clean as they are only concerned with getting their paycheck.
With 20 years of experience in customer service, I understand the challenges that come with the job. However, it is important to follow the best practices set by companies like yours and Dollar Tree. Despite previous attempts to contact customer service, there has been no follow-up via phone or email.
It is disheartening to see stores in predominantly poor or marginalized areas like mine not meeting the standards of those in more affluent neighborhoods. This lack of care for all patrons, regardless of their background, is unacceptable. I am requesting a follow-up phone call to address this issue further.

During my visit to the Family Dollar store on [redacted] S Buckner [redacted] LDS TX, I encountered an employee named Monique Armstrong who displayed extremely rude behavior. She was yelling, using inappropriate language, and being aggressive towards shoppers. Despite attempts to calm her down, she continued to act inappropriately, even escalating to the point of trying to throw customers out and almost getting into a physical altercation. The manager seemed unable to handle the situation, and when suggested to involve the police, Armstrong remained unbothered. The whole shopping experience turned chaotic with her erratic behavior, creating an unpleasant environment for customers. I sympathize with the other employees who have to work with her. This incident occurred on 5/29/19 after 2pm.

I recently visited the Family Dollar store in Lorenzo, Texas and had a negative experience with the cashier. She did not greet me, talked about me to her relative, and proceeded to follow me around the store, making me feel uncomfortable. During checkout, she remained unfriendly and failed to thank me, leaving me to wish her a nice day instead. As I left the store, I noticed her relative watching me from a car, which made me uneasy. I was later stopped by a police officer and informed that I was not allowed back in the store due to suspicion of theft, a claim I vehemently deny. I frequent this store and feel unfairly targeted by the cashier and her relative. I believe this treatment amounts to discrimination and slander and I am considering legal action unless the issue is resolved by terminating the cashier and reinstating my access to the store.

On Friday, June 14, [redacted], I encountered a frustrating situation at the store entrance. I am a 62-year-old senior with a disability, and a maintenance person had just applied a black tar coating inside the door frames. As I reached for the door, the tar got on my hands and my Polo shirt. The security guard confirmed the incident and mentioned another customer had a similar experience.
There was an unclear note on the door stating "Wet Door," which was misleading as the frame inside was coated, not wet. Despite speaking with Assistant Manager Denise Parker, who was unhelpful and advised me to contact the store manager, Keisha Graham, I was unable to get assistance. My Polo shirt is now ruined even after attempting to remove the stains.
I have photographic evidence of the incident and the aftermath on both the door frame and my shirt. I have been trying to reach the store by phone without success. I kindly request a representative to contact me at my home phone number [redacted].

I recently went to exchange some items at a store with a receipt. When asking the manager for the bottom part of my receipt back, he refused and mentioned it was store policy to tear it off. I tried to explain it was my receipt, but he became hostile and took it forcefully to make copies. This is concerning as it felt like a scam. I plan to reach out to Family Dollar about this issue as it's not the first time they have insisted on keeping my receipt during a return. It seems unjust for them to take my property like this.

I'm Carmen Walker, a concerned African American customer of Family Dollar. I am facing repeated racial profiling and discrimination at the Family Dollar Store in Titusville, Florida, specifically by the store manager, Misty Chamberlain. Whenever I shop there, I feel like I am being treated unfairly due to what I refer to as "SWB" or Shopping while Black. Ms. Chamberlain has been double charging me and refusing entry to my service dog. Her refusal to answer my questions or provide proper service has made me uncomfortable. I recently confronted her about this treatment and was unjustly given a trespass warning. I seek advice on how to address this issue as driving to another store is inconvenient. Please contact me at [redacted] or [redacted] Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The manager at store [redacted] in Commerce City, Colorado, is allegedly stealing from the store nearly every day. I have witnessed this multiple times myself. She typically commits this theft a week after payday. One day, I had over $[redacted] worth of items in my cart, and when I went to check out, she only charged me $20 total. It's shocking to see someone take advantage of the store like this. I used to live near her, and witnessing her stealing has been very concerning.

While shopping at the Woodland Pennsylvania store, I purchased mouse traps, baby aspirin, and Tylenol. After paying, I quickly went back to grab squirt cheese for the mouse traps. While inside, I reached into my pocketbook for my glasses to check the prices. Suddenly, a tall white staff member accused me of putting items in my pocketbook on camera. I explained I was only looking for my glasses, even offering to show him the contents of my bag. Feeling embarrassed and humiliated, I emptied my bag to demonstrate my innocence. This incident was extremely upsetting, especially since I work nearby and am familiar with the area. I don't think he should have confronted me without clear evidence. I hope to hear back from someone to address this issue. My name is Judy, and I can be reached at [redacted].

I have an issue with the general manager that I really need to address with someone. She has been quite rude. One of her employees accused someone of stealing, then called law enforcement and publicly embarrassed the person without first talking to the customer. However, the same employee did nothing when a theft actually occurred, including not involving law enforcement. I have been informed it's because the general manager is in a sexual relationship with the thief.

A while back, an employee thought he saw me putting something in my coat pocket while shopping with my friend. The assistant manager then confronted us, with a cop nearby, and asked us to empty our pockets, finding nothing. When I inquired later, the GM explained that calling the police is standard procedure according to corporate rules. I suggested reviewing the security footage first, questioning why the assistant manager involved the police. Since then, both the assistant manager and GM have been impolite to me. Additionally, the GM overcharged me for sandwiches and was dismissive when I contacted her, insinuating I was lying. She reluctantly agreed to check the cameras after further discussion but was unapologetic, telling me to collect my refund brusquely. Recently, I learned that an acquaintance with ties to the GM was caught stealing from the store, yet the GM handled it discreetly without involving law enforcement. When I confronted her about the double standard, she argued with me. Days later, a police officer served me with a trespass notice at the store's request. I find it unfair that I am excluded for merely asking questions, especially when the actual thief faced no consequences and continues to frequent the store without spending as much as I do.

I recently purchased a Simple Mobile service plan at a store, and was informed by the manager that the activation pin would be on the receipt. However, when the receipt was printed, there was no fifteen-digit pin provided, rendering the plan unusable. Despite showing the issue to a couple of managers at the store, the reprint of the receipt still did not contain the pin. I had to buy a new plan at a different store where they provided the pin on the receipt. The store where the issue occurred assured me they would resolve this, but it has been four days without receiving the service I paid for. Due to medical reasons like my heart condition and asthma, I had to purchase another plan elsewhere. I need assistance and answers regarding this situation as I cannot afford to lose money needlessly.

Yesterday, on 9/30/19, I visited the store located at [redacted] Government St in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to purchase a can opener. However, after taking it home and using it to open just two cans of spaghetti sauce, the opener broke - the gears stripped out. I returned to the store with the broken can opener and my receipt, hoping for a refund. Unfortunately, Jamie, the cashier, insisted I could only exchange it, even though I preferred a refund due to the broken opener. Throughout the interaction, Jamie was on a personal call, not providing any assistance or giving me information about how to proceed further. Despite looking up the return policy and contacting customer service, Jamie was unhelpful, dismissive, and even hung up on me when I mentioned reaching out to corporate for assistance. Subsequent attempts to contact her for resolution were met with no response.
