During physical therapy, a Nurse Practitioner my brother arranged for, insisted I needed long-term care due to concerns about relapsing if I went home. Despite explaining my in-home business, she documented in her notes that I needed long-term care, leading to my stay at Bickford for 10 months until I exhausted my funds, totaling $60,[redacted]. When I asked her to contact my insurance regarding payment, she mentioned a lawyer needed to handle it. I am left wondering if a Nurse Practitioner can make such decisions without a doctor's approval, as this situation has significantly impacted my finances.
