When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this Oklahoma Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV/RMV) phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Calling this Oklahoma Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV/RMV) Customer Number

Aug 16, 2023

While calling the Oklahoma Department of Motor Vehicles should be simple, I encountered a few issues while attempting to call this number. The first time all I connected to was a busy signal. I assumed this was maybe because I was calling after hours. I attempted to call two more times and then resolved to call in the morning.

The next time I called was mid-afternoon, but this time instead of getting a busy signal, the line was extremely fussy. It almost sounded like I was calling a fax line, but I had no reason to think that I was because the number came off the DMV website. I waited a few minutes and called again and received the same fuzzy and static-like sound.

I wasn't sure what to do, so I did a search for the phone number and discovered that it is not the general line for the Oklahoma DMV. It was actually a direct line for calling the Vehicle Tag, Tax, Title, Registration & Lien's office. That was actually useful because I was calling to learn more about how to transfer and register my vehicle in New York State following my move.

I decided that before I called the central line and dealt with what I expected was a long directory map, I would call the original phone number again. To my surprise, it connected right away.  I didn't do anything different, so my only guess is that the line only works if no one else is on it. If you happen to call while they are talking to someone, you get some type of tone or fuzziness. Either that or the individual line experiences connectivity issues. Once again, there was no way to know, but I was delighted to be connected.

A recording asked me to please hold to talk to someone and then the hold music started to play. It was a lighter remix of "Free Bird," which was actually quite fun to listen to, but to my surprise, I didn't have to listen long. In less than a minute, Julia picked up the phone and asked how she could help me. While it was a bit of trouble to get through, the fact that I was able to get directly to an agent makes calling several times at different times worth it. I would suggest this call to anyone who wants to skip the long lines of the general directory line.
