How Do I Claim Unemployment Benefits with the New Hampshire Employment Security?

You worked hard and were never late. You did your best but you were still let go due to no fault of your own. The next step is to apply for unemployment benefits with the New Hampshire Employment Security office. This guide will show you how and what you need when you apply.

First Some Tips
1. It's important to file on time, no later than three business days after the last day you worked.
2. You can normally file online or at the closest local office. Please check with nhes.nh.gov for any changes to this process.
3. NHES strives to process claims within 30 days so it's best to keep checking in with their website for any updates.
4. There are two steps to take, the initial claim and then filing for your weekly benefits.
5. If you have any questions, you can contact NHES by email, the nearest office or by phone. Keep in mind that the best way to contact them may change so feel free to review their FAQs and contact us pages for more information.

Information You Need
1. Your social security number
2. Your mailing and home address
3. Contact phone number and email address
4. Non-U.S. citizens need to provide their alien registration number
5. Claimants in the military during the last 18 months need DD-214 member 4

How to File
1. Go to nhes.nh.gov and click on the blue button marked File a Claim for Benefits located on the left-hand side of the webpage.
2. Either sign or register. You will be asked to select your location from a drop-down menu. Keep in mind you will be asked for your location each time you sign in.
3. Fill out the required fields and click next. Once you are finished, you will be directed to the log-in page. Enter your log-in information and select your location.
4. You should see your personalized main menu and the option to Apply for Unemployment Insurance Benefits, which will open a new claim.
5. The next pages of your application will ask for your personal information, as well as information about your work history, preferences and steps to reemployment.
6. Work history will be the most detailed as any employment in the last 18 months must be provided, part-time, full-time or self-employed, or in another state. Once you have provided your full work history, click the button marked Work History Complete. Keep in mind that if any of your answers require more detail, more screens and questions will be presented by the webpage.
7. The next stage is the review and submit page. Here you can double-check your entries and is your only opportunity to make any changes. To make any changes, click the plus-sign to expand the section and click on edit this section. Click the Certify claim button after you've completed your review and click on Yes to acknowledge the certification.
8. You will now see the confirmation page. Here, your claim is accepted and are given the next steps to take. It's advised to print out the page or write down the confirmation number for your records.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for New Hampshire Employment Security Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
