What are the hours and when should I call?

There could be several reasons why a Microsoft Office 365 home or business user might call 800-865-9408 for support. Office 365 contains several software programs, each with unique challenges that can vex users. Additionally, those using Microsoft Office can access Microsoft One Drive cloud storage. One Drive can be challenging, so users might need support from Microsoft.

When you call the Microsoft 800-865-9408 number, like most software support lines, you're greeted with an automated message. The system directs you to press two for "Espanol,” and informs you that the call may be recorded, monitored and shared with other countries. Next, the system asks if the caller is a home or business user. Once you answer this question, the system prompts you to state why you are calling.

I told the system my call was about One Drive, Microsoft's cloud storage program. Unfortunately, the automated system didn't answer my question but directed me to help.microsoft.com for assistance. The automated assistant asked if I wanted to hear the information again. Then the call ended with, "Thanks for calling Microsoft. Have a good day." The system doesn't give an alternate number to call or offer a call-back option.

It seems the only way to get help is through the website. However, if you have had a previous encounter with customer service, you may already have a case number that could be the ticket to speaking with a human. 

What I found interesting is that as a home user, when I tried to call the number again from the same landline, the automated system directed me to the website and ended the call with "goodbye," which suggests that the system may have remembered that I had already called.

I called from my cell number, and after identifying as a business user, the automated system voice said, "I look forward to assisting you," and suggested they would get me help. However, as a business user, I needed a phone number associated with the product to get phone support. The system directed me to a "profile" website and said it may take up to 48 hours to get assistance.

Whether you're a home or business user, without a case number, you get a web address to visit for assistance. The system ends the call with no further help, such as alternate numbers or an offer to call the customer back.

Based on my experience with Office 365 Support's 800-865-9408 phone number, it only refers a caller to a website address. It offers no opportunities to interact with a human who might answer a question or walk the caller through a software issue.

If you're a home or business user with a problem that requires an immediate solution, know the case number and/or phone number associated with your account and be prepared to visit the website for help first.
