I accidentally deleted my french course and can't get back to my unit because I can't do it with three hearts

Don't worry, you are still able to continue your course even if you accidentally deleted it. Here's what you need to do: Go to "Add a new course" and pick French. Since Duolingo saves your progress even after a course is removed, you should be able to continue where you left off. The hearts system is about making mistakes - you lose a heart for each mistake you make in a lesson. If you have no hearts left, you can either wait for them to replenish over time, purchase more with Duolingo gems or complete practice lessons to earn them back. Happy learning!

how do I level down my course? I want to review the lower level unit, how can I go back?

There isn't a way to level down a course or skill on Duolingo once you've advanced, but you can always review your previous lessons. For this, return to the skill you wish to revisit, and click on it. There, you'll find lessons and practice sessions that cover the material from all the levels you’ve completed within that skill. This is designed to help you review and reinforce what you've learned at your own pace. Please be assured that the system won't force you to move on until you feel comfortable.
