I am unable to get virgin mobile service since I left the uK. I am now in Australia but I also had no service in the UAE - whats the problem I have used virgin mobile aboard a lot

As my SIM card had been changed recently - since my last trip abroad - my settings on my on-line account had been changed and international calls were barred. You need to go to the account and click on Plan and Device (at the top), then Manage my services and then make sure that international call barring is off. I did this and then turned the phone on and off and it was resolved in minutes.
