This has to do with a non-moving “violation” for which I’m being charged $**** per year by Liberty Mutual. That’s more than a DUI or reckless driving assesment.**I will start with the fact that I have been a Liberty Mutual policy holder for over ** years and have several policies with the company.**This is the story of an innocuous incident that has become a complete mess for me and I need a little cooperation from Liberty Mutual.**The story: I owned two **** Subaru Foresters (both silver and virtually identical). I drove one and my son, Jason, drove the other. I bought a new car and gave my car to my daughter who re-registered it. I gave her the wrong Insurance card (with all of the vehicle info). So, in the process of re-registering her car, she cancelled the registration on Jason’s car.**A few months later, Jason was at a stop light when a police officer pulled up behind him. For no reason (boredom?), he ran the plate of the car in front of him and found that it wasn’t registered. Therefore, a ticket.**Jason went to court and the judge dismissed the case for court costs. We re-registered the car and all seemed settled until I found a $**** surcharge on my insurance renewal statement. When I found out why and asked for assistance in straightening this out, Liberty Mutual was quite unhelpful.**So, I paid the $**** while trying to get the information on how to straighten it out. I was told, initially, by Liberty Mutual, that ExploreData was the entity that reported this. After an eternity of running in circles, I manage to get ExploreData to acknowledge that there were no points against this incident. I contacted Liberty mutual as was told to send in the ExlporeData information. After a week of hearing nothing, I called to look for a resolution.**I spoke to a gentleman named Josh who was actually helpful, at least, in giving me information that I could get from no one else at Liberty Mutual. It turns out that there are three reporting entities (ExploreData* Experian* Nexus-Plexus). He also explained that, even though there were no points, there was still the “incident.” That is what is important to Liberty Mutual. Apparently, it is not possible to get an “incident” expunged by the DMV in New Jersey.**So, it is dependent on the insurance company to use discretion and common sense in deciding how to approach such a situation.
