Upon further review of the most recent AT&T/T-Mobile merger news, some interesting insights have come to light, and for those of you who are not a fan of outsourcing, it's not good news.
Cognizant Technology Solutions, and Indian based IT firm used by many looking to outsource various projects, is a major client of both AT&T and T-Mobile. While it's purely speculation that a firm such as
Cognizant Technology Solutions would be hired if the proposed deal goes through,
Cognizant Technology Solutions specializes in combining billing and customer service systems for companies, so it seems highly likely they would see an increased workload from the proposed merger. So for those of you that are frustrated by the deal that would create the largest cellphone company in the US, there may be more reason for concern. We get a lot of complaints from people who cannot understand the customer service agent, or just plain want to see those jobs stay in the US. Well, firms such as
Cognizant Technology Solutions have made a living providing services to firms such as AT&T, as they are able to capably handle the jobs, and at a much cheaper rate than many US based firms. While we can only wait and see if the deal is approved by the FCC, those of you frustrated with outsourced customer service may want to decide that it's time to switch cellphone providers.
