Use the YMCA nearest to my current residence after I moved several months ago to this new location. ... Hello, I have a family membership with the YMCA that I purchased prior to moving to another city. I have currently been residing in my new home for several months and the YMCA in my area says that because I didn't purchase my membership there I am not allowed to use that facility. When I purchased my family membership it was assured to me that I would be allowed in any YMCA facility in the continental US. I understand with COVID that traveling and using other YMCAs is not allowed, however I am a resident of this new city and am still not allowed to use this YMCA facility without purchasing another membership.
This was especially frustrating because if they are worried about people traveling to use other YMCAs why would they tell me I was allowed to repurchase a new membership with their facility and then I'd be allowed in.
I would like to make my new residents my location of residence and be allowed to utilize my community YMCA facility as I have paid for and not to have to purchase a second membership at this facility I was allowed to use for the past few years.
I've had a family membership for several years now.
I've tried calling the YMCA they told me I could purchase a new membership with their facility and then I'd be allowed in. This makes no sense other than they just want me to pay a secondary membership fee.
