I got a new Xbox and my old Xbox had my account, *****@***.com, and a child account, *****@***.com. The child account needs a password to login even though I can see it under "family" on the new xbox when logged into my parent account. I do not know what the password was that was setup and the phone number for that email is no longer in use. I try to take the steps to recover the password as it asks with the recovery form but I constantly get denied because I don't have two pieces of information. A previous password (which I don't have. reason for resetting password) and an Xbox ID (which I don't have because I no longer have the old password). **I have called support and they basically said "That's all you can do is fill out the form. If it is not working, you need to create a new microsoft account."*So I'm screwed out of all my online purchases, history, achievements, and progress it seems. There should be measures in place for password recovery for situations like this. It is unfair that I lose all of the above simply because of a faulty password reset system.
